Although the origins of Friars Court date back to the mid 12th century, the current honey-coloured Cotswold stone 17th century house sits in 3 acres of landscaped photogenic grounds encompassed by most of the original 15th century moat. Amongst the mature trees and flower borders are the three marquee locations and two of the outdoor licensed ceremony locations - including the romantic Rose Arbour near the imposing Yew Arch and Monet-style bridge over the moat. Extended from the back of the house and overlooking the grounds is the more contemporary light and bright Garden Room: our main ceremony location for up to 80 people. To the other side of the house lies the rustic grandeur of the listed 19th century Stone Barn - our 'blank canvas' - licensed for 150 ceremony guests but is more usually decorated for receptions of up to a maximum of 150 guests for an evening reception.

Without the restrictions of set packages or 'approved only' lists Silver Pear Weddings offers couples a bespoke route to a truly personal wedding at Friars Court. Some couples love the fact they are able to use their own suppliers, many couples opt for the reassurance of using some or all of our tried-and-tested recommendations some of whom we've known and worked with from our very own beginnings in 2002.

Although a little more more work might be involved in a Friars Court weddings the friendly advice, gentle guidance and years of experience that Silver Pear Weddings (and recommended suppliers) can offer should make planning so much more enjoyable than just a spreadsheet, a lever-arch file and a clip-board of check-lists (although lists are good). Involving separate suppliers enables a couple to make each aspect and every detail of their wedding entirely their own and should also allow more leeway for a couple to concentrate their budget on those elements of their wedding which are most important to them.

Our location in beautiful West Oxfordshire maybe tranquil and idyllic but we're not that far from 'civilisation'. Oxford and Swindon are around 30 - 40 minutes away, London perhaps an hour and a half as both the M4 and M40 are within easy reach. Friars Court is a private house - so no overnight accommodation is possible - but this picturesque part of the Cotswolds area is popular with visitors so there hotels, many (smart) pubs with rooms and B&Bs in the immediate area, many concentrated within a matter of 15 - 20 minutes drive from Friars Court in the historic town of Burford - an ideal location for guests who want to make a long weekend around a wedding at Friars Court.

17th century Friars Court is set in the heart of 3 acres of secluded, part-moated, landscaped grounds which host 3 marquee locations & an imposing, authentically rustic, 19th century Cotswold stone listed grain barn all within easy reach of the M4 & M40. Established in 2002 Silver Pear has quietly built a reputation for highly-personalised bespoke weddings created with, by and for each couple. That might mean more effort but there's plenty of friendly advice, gentle guidance and much experience on offer. Without set packages or restrictive 'approved-only' lists Silver Pear offers couples leeway to concentrate their budget on what matters most to them be that catering, photography, flowers or evening entertainment. With 5 licensed locations inside & 3 outside ceremonies range from 20 in the intimate Red Dining Room to 150 in the Stone Barn or outside in the Entrance Porch, the Swedish Summer House or the romantic, moat-side Rose Arbour. Friars Court has played host to tipis, Big Tops, Capris, Hex and clear-span marquees over the years. It's a choice of which tent, which location and which view! The Stone Barn is our real 'blank canvas': high walls & vaulted roof with fairy lights, colour-change up-lights & a couple of days to decorate & set up. Nothing, from the chairs to the shape & size of tables, is set so decor can simple or adventurous.
