The Great Hall is gorgeous, from the original period features of the breath-taking staircase to the stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. The surrounding outdoor spaces can provide an exclusive, private and unbearably located venue for your wedding party. The Great Hall is a brilliant, open space with an abundance of natural light and seats up to 120 people for a fine dining experience. The room is rich with our regions history, as demonstrated by the unique ceiling, academic memorabilia and red brick exterior. The city centre location not only provides brilliant accessibility, there are many hotels close to the venue for your guests, as well as student accommodation being available in the summer. The catering team can provide delicious, sophisticated food for you no matter your preference. A perfect place for a fine dining experience with a three-course meal. Newcastle’s hidden gem!

Meet the Manager

Rachel Cottiss

My name is Rachel Cottiss and I am the new Conference and Events Manager and I will be leading on exteranl events such as weddings for the University. I have worked in the events industry for the past 10 years. I have had many different roles in this time I started as a staff manager working for an outside catering company working in the across the North West. From there I went and worked abroad as a wedding coordinator for Thomas Cook before returning back to the North East. I have worked in a number of different venues including a variety of hotels. My previous role was at Sage Gateshead which was a very similar role to what I am doing here.   Out of work I enjoy going out for dinner always up for trying new restaurants. So if you have any recommendations give me a shout. My greatest hobby is looking for and planning a holiday. I have been to some amazing places but I have to say New York is my all time favourite place at the moment.
