Information For Ardanaiseig Hotel

Built in 1834, Ardanaiseig stands on the shore of Loch Awe, nestled under the mighty Ben Cruachan.

From being a family home, it began to operate as a hotel in the 1980’s. In 1995, renowned London antiques dealer Bennie Gray bought the hotel on impulse, and set about restoring the property, at the same time giving it a spirit and character unmatched in Scotland. Antiques and objets d’art fill the hotel at every turn. Every bedroom is individually designed, and by far the most stunning interior in the hotel is that of the Drawing Room.

Currently operating the hotel on Bennie’s behalf, Argyll Hospitality Management Ltd. took a lease of Ardanaisieg at what was an uncertain time for the hotel, in July 2018. Argyll Hospitality Management's owners, Christine Fox and David McGhie, have over 35 years of hospitality experience between them, and are delighted to be responsible for Ardanaiseig.

With consideration for the hotel’s celebrated past, but with a keen eye for Ardanaiseig’s future, the team have focused on one of the hotel’s greatest strengths – the sublime tranquillity and breath-taking beauty of the hotel and its estate, that lends itself so well to a romance and intimacy.

Set in 120 acres of land, full of gardens and paths, guests find themselves in an idyllic world of peace and quiet, giving themselves a chance to connect with each other, in a way they would not normally do in this hectic, modern world. Whether it is walking the grounds, enjoying a meal, or snuggling by the fire together, romance and intimacy are celebrated and cherished at Ardanaiseig.

It is no surprise that the hotel has so many regular guests, most commonly for the fond memories Ardanaiseig revives when guests think back to that all important proposal, elopement or wedding that they had there years before.

When it comes to weddings, Ardanaiseig's size makes it ideal for smaller, more intimate weddings, from 30 to 50 guests. The Amphitheatre is an amazing location for any wedding, with the surrounding loch and mountains creating a stunning backdrop to that moment when you finally say "I do".

In less clement weather, the Drawing Room's classical style create a perfect setting, looking through it's bay window down to Loch Awe, and onwards to Ben Lui.

Enjoy your wedding breakfast with friends and family in the Dining Room, before dancing the night away once again in the Drawing Room. The house party begins after your first dance and carries on until the wee small hours.

For larger events, tipis and marquees can be arranged in the grounds.

Top Wedding Tips

Use your bridesmaids and groomsmen to do the 'donkey work' - there's so much to arrange, but before the event and on the day get them to take care of the little things

Always have some comfy shoes for later in the day - both the Bride and the Groom

Don't try to make everyone happy. Plan to make sure that you are both happy

We had our wedding in August at Ardanaiseig and it was the most wonderful experience. Louise, David and the entire staff did an outstanding job, they made our special day PERFECT! We stayed there 3 nights with most of our guests. We played games, ate great food, danced and had a very fun time. The food was delicious, and the beautiful gardens, woods and lock Awe combined with the caring friendly staff made our fairytale wedding unforgettable. Our guests are still talking about our dream wedding and how wonderful Ardanaiseig and everyone there were! We are forever thankful, and we hope to be back to visit many more times. Highly recommend Ardanaiseig!!!

Me and my wife had a wedding ceremony in Ardanaiseig in November 2015. We loved it there. It is located in a really beautiful place and it is so peaceful there. We looked at the pictures on their website and it doesn't reflect the reality though - in real life the hotel in way better shape and feels really lux. The staff is very friendly and professional - best hotel experience that we have received i can honestly say. Definitely worth a visit and we will definitely be back :)

We just got married at Ardanaiseig, and it was exactly what we had dreamed of. Kari was great during the planning stages, when we really relied on her as we were working on a different continent for the whole build up! She was also fantastic during the event, keeping the day running like clockwork. The venue itself is beautiful both inside and out. All our guests stayed at the hotel for the whole weekend, so we had a brilliantly intimate gathering. The whole team worked tirelessly to deliver our perfect day. We couldn't have asked for more! A big thank you to Kari and all the staff for giving us and our guests the best weekend ever!!!
