    Hi everyone,

We’re due to get married in Portugal in the last week of August 2020. We’ve been planning this wedding for two years and now everything just feels so up in the air.

Just wondered if anyone else had summer aboard weddings planned around the same time and how they’re feeling?

I’m reluctant to cancel (as could affect insurance claims etc) but also aware that Summer 2021 was already nearly booked up at our venue before this even happened, so finding a date next year and a time all our suppliers can do just seems very unlikely. So much had work and money has been put into this, I just can’t believe what’s happening :(.

I keep going through phases of ‘what will be will be’ then other days just feel so unbelievably sad. My hen do is now cancelled, but the unknown of the wedding is just so difficult. Anyone else feeling the same? X

    Hi Emily,

Your story is almost identical to mine. Due to get married in Portugal at the end of August! We've come to the realisation that it'll be best to postpone. Even if we are allowed to travel, we might have a limit on the amount of guests we are allowed. Social distancing in place (this just wont work - our wedding is a VERY social one by design!) It just wouldn't work. Some family members in the shield group might not be allowed to travel. Others are worrying about finances and having the money to pay balances / spending money in Portugal. Plus of course the health worries. It's just not worth it.
The problem as you say is all of those worries re: date changes and deposits etc. I'm so anxious I haven't contacted our venue or vendors yet. I'm so worried they won't be able to make the same date and all of the hassle surrounding that. Lots of love to you and Charlotte who has also replied. x

    Hi Emma,
What a shame for your wedding... All that planning for evrone involved... Our wedding is less complicated as just 6 of us in our wedding party but nevertheless we all still preparing for it just in case... Its the not knowing that's doing my head in!! We spoke last night about possibility of it next year and I think we're preparing for the worst... It was cancelled last year as we had booked with Thomas Cook!!!
I suppose all we have to do is be grateful we're healthy and will get our money back... Take care girls xxx
