We have picked a date for our wedding which falls on our 10 year anniversary.
We have picked our venue and very happy with the price but the food is what we are finding most expensive.
Do you think it is too early to start planning?
I am constantly worrying that we aren't going to be able to afford everything and can't shift the feeling! Did anyone else have concerns?
xx

Hiya Lauren, welcome to the site, I hope you have fun here and happy planning. You'll certainly find lots of useful tips.
As for planning, nope, you can look at places, some may not take bookings yet but at least when you can you'll know what and where you want.

Thank you. We are planning an early 2020 (February) wedding so just over 2 years away.
The venue we like is taking bookings and will give us the venue at 2019 price as they haven't released 2020s yet which is a bonus. They want half of the venue cost as a deposit though which I am reluctant to pay.

I booked our church and venue Jan 2015 for our wedding 3 weeks ago. So 2 yrs, 10 months in advance. All you can do is ask and see what they will do for you xx
Met in 2009
He proposed Jan 2014
Will become Mrs P 7th October 2017
I'm feeling the same as you right now, Venue cost OK, but food is costing us more than the venue.
It's crazy
We are May 2020, but haven't paid deposit just yet, making sure we can afford it first
Just crazy as although the venue price is 2017 prices, the food will go up as they cant stay the same due to food costs...
GAH. So hard!

Rhi - have you looked at paying a deposit now for the food? When we were looking at a venue we were told we could pay 10% now and the food price would stay the same.
We did however look at a different venue last night and booked it. They had such an amazing package on which included:
For up to 80 day guests Fully licensed Gazebo & Water Terrace for Ceremony Candle Lit ceremony area with cosy blankets A choice of vintage fish and chip van served outside or a traditional hog roast served on the terrace for a more relaxed feel Red and white or rose wine served with meal- a choice of 2 Champagne and canapé reception Champagne for toasts Toastmaster supplied from Toastmasters Kent Up to 3 tier Wedding cake Cake stand & knife A choice of Vintage bridal cars Table Centre Pieces- design to be selected DJ Disco Evening Bacon Butties and Chip Cones for 150 guests Fully dressed Venue Hire including table linen, cutlery & crockery. Personal wedding reception planner White chair covers with sash colour of your choice and table runners to match Kids vintage drinks dispense station A Sweetie Table Post box Full set up of event to Bride & Groom’s brief
The price was so reasonable and worked out the same price as just the venue and food where we were originally looking. Obviously it helps that we want a winter wedding.
So glad I am not the only one looking so far ahead and love the idea of a 10 year anniversary wedding :)
I hope you get somewhere booked soon xx

Lauren, that package sounds so good! So glad you found somewhere amazing.
I'm not too sure about deposit for food but i'm going to their open day (which i'm hoping will be the time to put down our deposit and save our date - eeek!) in a couple of weeks, so will ask then, thank you! :)
& yeah me too, I love the symmetry as well - 2020 and only one date to remember haha, they have no excuses now!
I have a full pinterest board of ideas but havent done anything yet - we brought our first home in feb, so savings are shot at minute - working on getting some money behind us first.
I did however try on 2 dressed at Wed2B just as we were near the shop, i LOVED it, but wont do it again until lost some weight - but actually i didnt even feel bad in the dress, was amazing.

Whats your proposal stories?
I got engaged 20th August this year, at 7AM in the morning! haha
I must say first, he isnt romantic atall, so this is a shocker :)
I had predicted it was coming, i had already waited 7 years for a ring, but he showed me a text message a colleague of his won a balloon ride and couldnt go so asked if we wanted to go. (He knew this was on my bucket list) Then in the car one day he mentioned it was just us in the balloon with the pilot I was thinking (as weather dependant) if it doesnt happen why couldnt they (the original text) reschedule So, i got my nails done haha and prayed for good weather.
Was due to go up at 6am,and we slept through our alarm, my grandad called me at 5:20 wishing us a nice time so safe to say we slung on clohes and was out the door within 10 minutes, and i sped haha luckily before 6am, there was no traffic.
Anyway we went up and after a while he admitted he booked the balloon ride and got down on one knee.
On the way back to the car, my mum, stepdad and our friends were there to greet us, and us and our friends went for a posh breakfast.
Was the best morning ever (& i hate mornings haha)

We got engaged in Auguat this year and we figured we would have a long engagement.... its now october and we have booked our venue, registrar and get married early feb 2020! We arent quite sure how that happened haha
We signed our contracts today for the venue and handed them over so its all official! We marry on our 3rd anniversary together which is really special to us. I cant wait! I already have my flowers picked out (artificial because i hate real ones), our cake makers, our photographer and my dress so im just able to spend the next 8 months saving before i have to start looking for bridesmaid dresses etc.
Its all so exciting :)

Hi.. ive posted on the newbies post.. but I'll post here too. We're getting married on 16th May 2020.. no reason for date other than my fiance liked the sound of it lol.. we wanted a May wedding and for some reason that date appealed to him. We've booked a package at a venue for 60 day guests sit down 3 course meal and 100 evening (pizza oven and lamb skewers - Arrosticini) and will have ceremony there too. Have booked photographer and a band. I will do my own cake and I've bought my dress lol (totally not planned). I've also got bride and bridesmaid bouquets.. silk.. bargain on Facebook! So feeling quite organised.. I'm sure I'll still get stressed nearer the time lol
