Currently i do not have a passport as when my previous one (when i was 13) ran out i didn't renew it as i had no need at the time. But we are going to france for our honeymoon and i am struggling with the name change. Do i still get my passport in my current name (wouldn't think i'd be able to change it now anyway) as that is what the holiday and flights will be booked under, but then what happens with my name change after the wedding? Do i have to pay for an entirely new passport and driving licence and will i still be able to to travel?
any help is appreciated, TIA x

No as you are going to Europe need to show passport
Your passport needs to match whatever name you book under- therefore if yiu are planning only to use passport for honeymoon and are booking under new name you can get a passport in your new name up to 3 months before ceremony- it will be pre dated so can only use from when you get married

This is taken from the official government website on the section about getting your passport:
Get a new passport before the ceremony You can apply for a passport in your new name up to 3 months before your marriage or civil partnership ceremony.
Your old passport will be cancelled. Your new passport is ‘post-dated’ - you can’t use it before the ceremony.
Some countries won’t issue visas for post-dated passports - check with the country’s embassy or consulate.
You must send a ‘passports for newly weds and civil partners’ form with your application. It must be signed by the religious minister or registrar who will conduct the ceremony.

thank you :) that's really helpful! If i was to get it in my current name would it only be valid until the ceremony? it's all so confusing x

No. You could do what I did and continue to travel in your maiden name until the passport expires. So i didn't book any holidays in my married name for 3 years after we got marrried.

ooh brilliant! That's what I will do, it just seems a lot easier than traveling to get people to sign all sorts of documents :) Thank you x

If you a 10 year passport though that'll be 10 years travelling in your maiden name amd having ro remember to book tockets and accommodation in maiden name rather than married name, unless you pay more afterwards to change the name after you get married.

i don't think i'd mind using my maiden name as it's taken me a while to warm to the idea of changing it anyway so still being able to use it in some capacity might actually be preferable :) thanks for your advice x

You can renew the passport at any time it will just cost you the renewal fee so you can change it within those 10 years if you needed to. As long as your holidays are booked in your maiden name you will have no trouble using your passport, the only thing you won't be able to use it for is ID (if say your bank account is changed to your married name).
My runs out this year and I was going to wait until next year and get a pre dated passport but then I decided against the stress of getting the registrar to sign the forms and sending off for a passport 3 months before the big day. They also advise against it if your going anywhere you need a Visa as they won't put your married name on your Visa (not that this will effect you where you are heading but just in case :))

thanks Kathleen :) i think i will just keep my maiden name on the passport and book in that name for the next 10 years :) i have no issue with that x
