    Hi all.

My ER is an 18ct white gold 2mm band with a rectangular sapphire surrounded by tiny diamonds. My wedding ring will have to be shaped or cut out as I think these are the only styles that will suit it. However, my budget is around £2-300 so looking at silver.

I know the 'myth' is that one will wear the other down, but will it, and to what extent compared to having another 18ct white gold next to it?

    Thanks

I would speak to a jeweller, if one is harder than the other they yes it will wear down

Even jewellers say different things. I was hoping someone may have 1st hand experience

I am getting a silver wedding ring next to my white gold engagement ring, although I don't know what carat it is. I just find the gold needs dipping too often and isn't as hard wearing. I'm not sure about the wearing down thing but I would imagine maybe the silver would be harsh on the gold but if i'm re-dipping it all the time anyway it won't make much of a difference x
