I have booked my wedding for Feb 2018, in Levi - Finland, so I am super excited about this! I am worried however that I won't be able to have my hair and make-up done out there, and I am quite a cheapskate so I don't want to pay an arm and leg for it. I am thinking that if I save on the hair and makeup I can book an extra husky sled ride!
So I am wondering if anyone that got married abroad/is getting married abroad has any tips on doing your own hair, and being a complete novice at makeup.. Can reccomend anything for idiots that can hardly use eyeliner

I'm planning on looking at make up tutorials online and practice as much as possible! I'm getting my hair done by someone else as I am useless at hair!!

Yeah I am useless as well. I am the least girly girl possible. I am just worried I am putting too much pressure on my sister, because as it is she has to learn how to tie a corset, learn about makeup and learn how to do wedding hair! If I could take a bit of pressure off her that would help.
Luckily the wedding dress shop I bought my dress from said they will teach her how to do it properly, but that's still stressful!

Sorry hun, I paid for mine to be done, didn't want the stress and pressure of having to do it myself.
I would recommend looking at online tutorials, and maybe getting a few hairpieces that can be the focus so you don'tn have to do some amazing creation with your hair if you don't want to.

Do you think it's worth just biting the bullet and paying for it? My other half said its okay, but I am the one that's quibbling over price. When I had a quote from the travel company I booked with, they quoted £300 each.. That seems a lot to me, and that's just for hair, I don't even know about make-up.
Hair piece seems like a good way to go, there is a tiara in the shop with snowflakes that I had my eye on, but would I be able to get away with my hair just down with a tiara and maybe a veil. Every photo I have looked at, hair seemsto be important and up, and smart. Totally out of my comfort zone!
You got married three weeks ago! Hope you had a fabulous day!

I know what you mean. I was going to ask my mil (she used to be a beautician) to do my hair but I decided against it as I want her to enjoy the day. Have you spoken to your venue about any suppliers they can recommend?

My sister has her daughter as well, so chances are that I will end up doing my sisters hair, which is a stress I really don't want!
Yeah the supplier said £300 each for hair, send a photo over and they can do it on the day, I am a bit worried paying £300 for a hairdresser, it just seems like an awful lot of money for me. My grandfather said he would pay for my hair and makeup, but I would rather him help me with something that means more to be honest.

£300 for each person!!! That is a lot! Is there anyone else that could do it? I think you might have to accept your grandfather's offer if not x

Wow! That is a lot of money just for hair! Surely things aren't that expensive in Finand?!? Id have a look on g00gle and bookf@ce to see if you can find any one.

I think if I was getting married somewhere cold I would go for a half up half down do, would that be an option?
The tiara sounds like a lovely idea, especially with the decorations :)

You definitely don't have to have your hair up for your wedding day, I only had it up because it is so hot in Vegas and I knew that after so long I would want to put it up and ruin whatever had been done to it. We had such a great time getting married abroad, thank you :)

While we are on the subject - what would someone pay for getting their hair done on their wedding day?

There are possibly 5 females in our wedding party to have their hair done.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

Maxine are you getting married here? I think if I'd have got married here I wouldn't have paid more than £50 for just hair, althouhg I think the average going rate is a little more.
As it was I paid $175 for hair and makeup, which was a lot because A) Vegas and B) Exchange rate after the referendum sucked.

I had 2 ladies come though, one for hair and one for makeup and I was really impressed with their speed, efficiency and the end results. Also foundation/blush was airbrush.
