Hi all, we're getting married abroad and we only had a small number of people who wanted to come with us but now some of my family who live over there have said they would could as it's not too far away from where they stay now the numbers have shot right up we can't really afford to be paying for everyone to have a sit down meal with us my h2b has said we can't expect people to come to our wedding and pay for their own meals we're not having a traditional wedding and we didn't ask people to travel to come to our wedding they all wanted to come off their own backs when we announced our wedding plans. What would everyone else do let people pay their own or bride and groom pay for everyone's? I've been to a traditional wedding where I had to pay for my own meal and nobody had a problem at that but like I said we're not doing traditional! Help please my wedding is in 2 months time and I'm stressing over this I actually feel like saying just cancel it I've had enough!

In my opinion, if they've invited themselves, then they should definitely pay!

Are you just going to a restaurant and ordering from a menu or are you having a sit down similar to a traditional UK wedding? It sounds like you are going abroad so you can have a small wedding, maybe you should be honest and tell them you can't afford to pay for them but you would be honoured they would like to come but due to numbers/budget/timing they would need to pay. hy are they only telling you this 2 months before anyway (assuming you've not just decided to go as soon as possible?)

be open with them and tell them the situation. they will either say yes no problem or ok we wont come then. As they have invited themselves they should be understanding.

Had our dream perfect honeymoon in Hawaii!
Im with Emily on this, phone them and explain the situation. They should be ok with it if they just want to come and see you get married. If they say no then nothing lost as you werent expecting them anyway

I think I would need to speak to them and sooner rather than later, otherwise I would be worrying about it right up to and including the wedding day. You don't need the stress and worry.
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
