Hello,

I'm new to this forum! So I decided that it would be a beautiful idea to have 1000 Paper cranes at our wedding, as its a cheap decoration, with a sweet sentiment behind it, and fits nicely with our Tipi/Garden Party Wedding......

So inspired by lovely photos I purchased Origami paper

12 Origami paper Cranes down..... 988 to go! What was I thinking...... I'm sure the end result will be beautiful! It's a good job we've booked 3 years ahead.

hey those sound like hard word but lovely we making our own things for the wedding i''m slightly cheating im getting jam jars and tying ribbon around them and will be filling some of them with candles and some with flowers

I was trying to put some photo's on from Photobucket but I don't think it works on here!

Looks really pretty, but I've done 12 and I can see after a few hundred it getting quite boring!

The meaning;

Depicted as strong yet graceful, the crane is a traditional symbol of love in Japan. Since the elegant bird mates for life, it is a popular animal motif in weddings. It is commonly imprinted on wedding invitations and embroidered onto the marriage kimono or obi to represent honor, fidelity and harmony.

Japanese lore claims the crane is one of three holy creatures that can live for 1,000 years. After folding 1,000 origami paper cranes, one for each year of its life, the majestic "bird of happiness" is able to carry that person's prayers to heaven

Purple: Deepened Spirituality

It is said the folding of the birds teaches lessons of marriage to the bride.

patience with dealing with your partner is probably the lesson, because your going to need plenty of patience in making that many The meaning is absolutely lovely. Can you get others to help you or is only the bride to be thats supposed to make them?

What a lovely idea, and wonderful meaning behind it, I think 1000 will truly be a labour of love tho. How are you going to store them to make sure they don't get ruined in the next 3 years? Will you hang them or dot them about on tables?
I'm DIY'ing a few bits (not as many as I initially intended after realising that I have very little patience for it), mainly my stationary, the invites and orders of the day are being made by yours truly, I've also got about 15 giant stumps which I plan on doting around outside and topping with candles which will be put in some form of DIY'd candle holders, that's about it for me tho :).

ooh what a lovely idea :) never thought of doing that, i will be making my own backdrop and will be adding paper flowers to that, hopefully it will work out well, good look with the birds :) x
