So I've booked the officiant with the registry office, but what happens now? Do they just turn up on the day and say the standard service? How do they know if there will be readings etc? Do I have to time my guests to sit down before they get there? Do they call me before to check the plan or do I call them?
A bit confused, can only find American things about sitting down and talking through your ceremony with the officiant, don't know whether that happens here?
Thanks in advance xx

They will normally just turn up, earlier than the wedding, have a chat with you and also your hubby to be, ask what vows you are having read etc.

When we booked our registrar (not sure if that's different to an officiant) we got sent a pack through the post to fill in specifying which vows we wanted and there was a section to put in which readings we wanted and who would be reading them xx

Is an officiant the same as a registrar? I filled out an online form to book our registrar. They sent me an email confirming they had us provisionally booked for the date and time. The booking will be set once we attend in person to give notice. I can only assume they will talk us through the wording of the vows ect when we go next year?!

We booked the registrar separately and when we went to give notice, they talked us through the service etc and gave us a form to complete which included asking which vows you would like and if you have any readings or promises etc. Sent that back and then heard nothing else. On the day they arrived 30 minutes before the ceremony, met with OH and confirmed everything with him, then they met with me and did the same. x
We were given an information pack as soon as we booked our registrar - this included an arrangements form that we had to fill out and send back to them no later than 6 weeks before the wedding (with final payment). This covered everything including readings, vows, music choices, names of key people in the wedding, witnesses, etc. They confirmed at the 6 week date that they would need to see the bride and the groom about 30 mins before the ceremony on the day and we had the option to be seen together/separately. If you have any questions, just phone or email them and I'm sure they will put your mind at ease.

After giving notice we received an email from the registrars with all of the information they needed and the options for vows etc. This also includes a section for us telling them number of bridesmaids etc and who will be doing any readings and what they will be. They also requested confirmation of the song choices we are having throughout the ceremony. They will also meet with us both on the day of the wedding 30 mins before the ceremony.
