Wedding Forum - The best day ever!...

Firstly ladies in the brides of 2016 forum, thank you for all your wishes last week and it made me gigle today when I finally checked back in and saw you starting to wonder how it had gone. It's really sweet of you all.

They say your wedding day is the best day of your life and they weren't lying! We had an absolutely amazing time.

Thursday night was a little stressful getting everything to the venue but the tables were out so we could do some proper set up rather than just dropping bits off. It helped so much for Friday morning. I nearly cried when OH kissed me goodbye and my bm was the best at looking after me that night.

I slept fairly well until just after 5am when a friend who has just had a baby text to wish us luck and then I couldn't get back to sleep - advice here girls, turn your phone to silent!! I managed to have that 20min bath I wanted before the hairdresser arrived at 8 and started on bm. The make up artist and other 2 bms arrived at 9 and we had the most chilled out morning watching Friends. FIL dropped off flowers and I was so pleased with them. The florist got exactly what I wanted. Second piece of advice - the blue supermarket (and possibly others) do platters of sandwiches which meant we all had some lunch and didn't have to worry about keeling over in the ceremony.

The photographer arrived before my parents (as they were helping with final venue set up) so I was starting to panic a bit as I wanted mum to help me get dressed. We had some photos at home and then off we went. It's about a 30min drive and for the last 5 I went pretty quiet starting to get a little nervous. But it was just as we got into the porch of the church that I suddenly got really nervous and welled up a bit until my dad said something funny so as we walked down the aisle I had this massive smile on my face.

OHs face when he saw me was so happy and he said that seeing me was the first time he felt nervous. By the time I was stood next to him my legs were shaking like mad and didn't stop until well after the first hymn and readings. I was so worried my bum was shaking for everyone to see! The vows went without a hitch and as we walked out of the church the sun was shining. The confetti throwing was so much fun and we did the family formal photos before heading to the reception venue.

If the biggest thing that went wrong on our day was we had to stop on the hardshoulder of the m4 because the ribbons on the car had come off then I'll take that as good day! We did have a short shower then but as everyone was travelling it didn't matter too much. We joined the drinks reception and the acoustic set we won as part of the competition was brilliant. Everyone loved the photo slideshow we did and people started to move outside to use the courtyard gardens while we went off for photos. I also did the surprise video from OHs favourite band and he couldn't believe I'd done it. I'm looking forward to seeing the photo of his face.

Dinner was amazing and it worked well that we got up between courses to chat to tables rather than doing a receiving line. Then we moved everyone back to the smaller barn to do really relaxed speeches and they all said some lovely things. After we cut the cake, Mum helped me bustle my dress, then my brother came over with my aunt and cousin in America on video chat as they hadn't been able to come which was really lovely. The ice cream tricycle was absolutely mobbed and had a queue all night. We actually had to get people out of the queue to do the first dance (take me back to the islands by Idlewild) and the band were fantastic all night. The longest the dancefloor was empty was when the cake was served!

We had an absolutely amazing time! We had so many compliments about how smoothly the day went with no big gaps or things being rushed, as well as the food, the band and everything really. We've been wandering round with a little notebook for the last few days, each writing in memories from the day of all the little things we'll probably forget in a few weeks time. X

Beautiful, congratulations! I know what you mean about being awake at 5am. I was wide awake well before the alarm went off. I had all sorts of stuff going through my head because I thought I'd forgotten something!
