I booked my venue last month and we are having the ceremony and reception all in one place. We get married on the 11th August 2018.
It seems so far away and right now there doesn't seem a lot for me to do!
My fiance (typical man) keeps saying theres nothing to do now until at least next year but I'm so excited and impatient and I cant put the wedding to the back of my mind for so long. I'm itching to keep planning and I'm constantly looking at everything wedding related.
Any ideas of what I can do in the meantime? X

If your wanting to make your own stationary I would start there as it can be very time consuming, also look into photographers as some are already taking bookings for 2018 xxx Good luck with the planning xxx

Definitely look for phototherapy and book your registry office so they can attend :)
I was the same I booked last year for 2017 but it's never to early to start dress shopping :)
but definitely if you making your own stationary start looking at idees and things.
make a list of things you need to book and organise?
Hope it's all going good :) xx

I'm the same as you, got my ceremony and venue all booked for same place, in the middle of doing invites, table cards and centrepieces, luckily got a friend at work who actually makes speciality birthday cards and such so she's been helping me with the invites. Can't wait to go dress shopping though, gunna wait for the summer though as my two Chief bridesmaids are teachers and only time I get to see them is through kids holidays as I work most weekends xx

I'd agree, start looking at photographers, videographers, entertainment as these tend to get booked up early lol. We booked our singer 21 months in advance of our wedding and he was already getting booked up then! Not sure if you will be able to book a registrar yet, we married in Lancashire and the earliest we could book one was 12 months before. I was on the phone to to them at 9am on the 7th November 2014 to make sure I got the time I wanted for our wedding last year lol! Xx

I'm quite a patient person, but as soon as I got engaged I was on the phone and booking things. We set the date for 13 months after the engagement, we both have elderly grandparents which we desperately want to be there and also I know I wouldn't be able to wait any longer! lol. So I've had a bit less planning time than it seems most people have had on here. Part of me wishes we had set the date foe a couple of years time so we could enjoy the planning for longer. Although, touch wood, it has so far been less stressful than I thought it would!
Good luck in your plans :)

Rebecca who said you can only book the registrar 12 months before? I'd speak with the local authority office - we booked our registrar in January for Oct 17 and they had no problem with that. And you have give notice not more than 12 months before your wedding - is thay what they were maybe referring to? Most venues won't confirm bookings until you've confirmed the registrar in case they aren't available on your date. I may be overly negative but if you can get it all booked up now for peace of mind I would!

I think all registry offices are different so it's worth speaking to your own. I was told that you could 'provisionally' book the registrar so when I called to do this, I was actually able to just book (it was 19 months in advance of the wedding) and they took the deposit there and then. It's always worth asking the question.

Ahhh thankyou for that. I will definately look into it. It was the wedding planner at the venue that said this. The day we went to book she said one thing you need to remember is to book the registrar it can be done 12 months before and she said she will contact us first thing in the morning on the 11th August next year to remind us xx

Yeah, definitely contact the registrar direct as they may have changed the ruling on provisionally booking (they wouldn't let me when I asked ) xx

I provisionally booked my registrar 21 months in advance, and have to ring to book officially 12 months before hand, but my date and time is in their diary and I have had written confirmation. Its worth checking as each area is different.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

I would start looking round for photographers/ band etc and think about getting them booked. Also if you are making your own invitations etc design them, work out roughly how many you'll need and get cracking as I realised how time consuming they are and I now have hell of a lot of orders of service/ place cards etc to make in not a lot of time, you may not know what goes on the insides but just the outsides will be a massive help and you'll thank yourself later on! xxxx

The first thing we did was book the photographer and our DJ. We booked our photographer in June 2013 and he was already getting enquiries for 2015. I think we did suits, rings and research for invitations and cake very early on aswell.
