How far in advance did you all start planning and booking for your big day? And what we're the first things you planned?x

We got engaged in June 2014 and get married in 3 weeks. I was pretty quick looking at venues so we probably had that booked by early September 2014. We went to our venues wedding fair that autumn and found our photographer. They tend to get booked up quite quickly especially if you're getting married on a popular date like a bank holiday. We also found some photographers (and other suppliers) would have price increases year on year but could be negotiated with for discounts for booking early. X

We decided to get engaged July 2013. I think deep down we knew we wanted to go away so although we attended a couple of wedding fairs quite early on we didn't actually book until August/ September last year. First we booked the chapel and then the flights. The hotels were booked by January. We now have dress and rings and have started to pay things off.

I started looking at ideas way before we got engaged.
I proposed in December and we'd decided and book out venue by February.
Started dating: 10th February 2011
Welcomed our little girl: May 2015
I proposed: 23rd December 2015
I finally become Mrs R 17th August 2017
We got engaged in March 2015 and set our date for 1/7/17. We decided on and booked our church first because H2B's parents and grandparents were married there so meant a lot to us to secure it. Next was the reception venue and photographer though we have literally only just sorted this 'big three' about a year later.

We got engaged in November 2015 and are getting married in November 2017. We have booked our Venue, and have the registrar provisionally booked - have to confirm 12 months before. Have already chosen our wedding rings - we did this when we chose my engagement ring. That's it so far
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
Oh my I best get my thinking cap on. We said we would get married around September 2018 but as far as venues we haven't really looked yet. I have ideas for other things but those are this that can be done months before the big day.thank you x

We got engaged in October 2012 and started planning in January 2013 for an August 2014 wedding. All we did at that point though was set the date, book the venue, car and photographer, which were the things we thought were most likely to book up.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

We booked our venue 2 years in advance which has allowed us to save what we need and also spread the cost and the stress nicely! First things we booked were registrar, photographer and the harpist. Then shortly after a magician, hair and make up, and the cake lady. Basically all the suppliers so that we knew they were booked in and that we didn't need to worry about them anymore.
We had already been engaged for over 2 years before we even thought about booking the wedding though. We enjoyed just being engaged for a while and weren't in any hurry xx
I don't feel so stressed now. We keep changing our minds as to where we want to get married which is probably why we haven't made any concrete plans yet.x

Dont worry - you've got over 2 years yet. Once you have your venue and date it will be easier to put everything in place. Just enjoy the viewings :)
Thank you all for your advice and support feel a little better now .xx

We started pretty much immediately. Got engaged in February 2015, booked our wedding venue that month for September 2016. By May 2015, I'd put down deposits for registrar, venue, hair, makeup, DJ, casino tables, found my dress, picked out the rings we wanted... The only things we've done "last minute" are suits because he has 2 out of 3 of his groomsmen coming from Sweden so we have to wait for them to be in the UK.
Start when you like :) Most important thing being make sure you get the venue you want and make sure the registrar/church is available xx

We got engaged in December 2015, and by end of Jan 2016 we'd booked the ceremony and reception venue and paid the registrar for our Oct 17 wedding. Like the others here we wanted to get the biggest things out of the way asap so we had them hammered down, we're hoping to book a photographer shortly and then we can put everything to one side to pick up later in the year.
It's never too early to plan and it's definitely worth booking the major things like ceremony and photographer as soon as you can so you don't have to worry about them down the line and make quick decisions which may not be your first choices as you feel you're running out of time. Good luck with the panning!

we got engaged in june 2001 but a lot of things got in they way of booking our wedding (having children buying our home etc..) so with having to save up for a good two years, we finally made the decision of the date in august 2015, and booked out venue in September 2015.... I cant believe how time just flys when you have actually booked the venue !! like the other ladies have said its never too early to start planning 15 years in the making so far lol :)
