If you received a save the date would you expect to come to the whole day?

Some send them to everyone, but might be worth just doing the day guests with them as it's harder to sort a whole day off work or whatever than an evening. Plus if you send them to everyone, the evening guests may think they are getting an invite to the whole thing

We only sent them to day guests. We weren't going to bother with them at all but the lady doing our invites included them for free lol, and in the end I think we only ended up giving out a handful anyway as we kept forgetting about them! Xx

I done them for everyone and put invitation to follow for the day guests and evening invitation to follow for evening guests so it was easy for the guests to organise time off etc

We didn't send them at all, we just sent our invites in good time. We'd I formally told all the crucial people the date anyway.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
We did them just for day guests. I think if I received a save the date I would assume it was for the whole day so if you are sending to evening guests too, best to specify evening.
Then again, some of our evening guests have been bumped up to day guests because we had a few declines so it might make for a tricky conversation if they received an evening STD and then you decided to bump them. I'm sure people would be delighted either way. X

Personally I don't see the point of save the dates unless you are getting married on a particularly busy day. Word of mouth would suffice ID have thought until you send invites. That said, if you are sending them out surely you'd send them to everybody you want as a guest. People still need to organise themselves even if they are evening only guests. If for example you are sending them because you are getting married near Xmas, people will still need to know as they may have Xmas parties they will go to. Easy enough to put day/ evening on if you really want to.

We are getting married NYE and we had this discussion, in the end we just sent them to day guest. We are sending our actually invites out in June though so people have plenty of notice for evening do guests. xx

I'm planning to get married on a Friday so I'll definitely be sending save the dates for everyone, but will specify evening invitations to follow for evening guests only

We're getting married on a Thursday so we had 2 different types of save the date one for the all day guests and one for the evening only guests as they may need to book the time off and being a June wedding people like to start booking holidays, I think it depends on your circumstances and if you have the need and the affordability in your budget to send them xx :)

We sent them out to day and evening guests. I wrote a note on the back for the evening guests saying we would love them to join us for the evening.
