So OH and I have just been listening to possible songs for me to walk down the aisle to.
I always pretty much thought it would be the Wedding March so the "Here comes the bride" one.
OH was suddenly in fits of laughter because he thinks the first few notes of the song sound like the Stars Wars Darth Vadar music. What a way to taint a song!!!!
I think we're probably still going to have it as a) we don't like anything else and b) its what I always thought I would walk down the aisle to. Let's just hope OH doesn't start laughing on the day!! X

My OH has the Star Wars emperors March as his ring tone for me (he loves me really) he keeps trying to convince me to have it as my entrance music. Just what I want, walking in to that and him in stitches at the other end of the aisle.

My OH laughs when he hears it as it reminds him of beetle juice. So I'm not having it lol

I'm not having it either, I think it sounds dull, especially on an organ, it's all personal taste though so think it's fine to have what you like nowadays. Back in the day yiu had no choice! Lol

Haha, at all the weddings I have sung at I have never realised that but now you mention it you are 100% right.
I wanted to walk into a piece of music that is really important to me so not having it. We will be leaving to the traditional music though

I must admit I don't think they sound the same, but then I am a musician so they would have to be pretty much identical for me to associate them. I went for different pieces both for walking in and walking out, as being a musician I hated the thought of following the normal choices, when I know such a wide range of pieces. The standard marches are good though, they're a good speed to walk to and the walking in one is short but easily repeatable so it can be tailored to the length of the aisle you have. The walking out one is long but that's good, as it can carry on while the guests follow you out.

That was my thought too Elinor which is why my entry piece is what it is. But my organist plays Mendelssohn’s Wedding March so beautifully. I have heard him play it at 100+ weddings and every time he will finish the piece even if all guests are long gone. The ending is stunning and I would love to find a way that we can stay in the church and time the march out to be at the end. OH thinks its impossible though as we'd just be standing round waiting.

My oh would love it if I walked down the aisle to star wars! I may actually consider it! Have whatever you want.

I walked in to Cantique de Jean Racine by Faure in a flute quartet version which I recorded myself. It's a piece I love and the speed works well. I chose the Hallelujah Chorus to go out to, as it's a bit unusual for a wedding but suitably triumphant. We did stand waiting for a bit, as we started from behind the choir and then needed to time the walk to reach the choir at a set point in the music, where they split down the middle for us to walk through.
