I have kept using my maiden name at work and have no intention of changing. I've also still not changed it in my passport as I refuse to pay for a name change until the passport expires which it will later this year.
My question is this, when using my maiden name what title am I supposed to use? Miss, Mrs or Ms?
When filling out forms and booking holidays etc I can never decide which to use so it tends to depend on how I feel at the moment I'm booking it but I'm inconsistent and wondered what it should be.

Ms or Mrs so that people know you are married. Although to be fair your title isn't on your passport so it doesn't matter for booking holidays.

Although just to be awkward I always used Ms with my maiden name before we married. (Since I was about 14 to tell the truth, when I opened my bank account, I wanted to be different)
I search engined it...
Mrs = formal married woman's title
Miss= formal girl or unmarried woman's title
Ms= used in the past for a divorced woman's title, modernly used for both married and unmarried title, especially if you kept your maiden name or don't want to specify your status. If someone is unsure of your marital status then using Ms would be correct.

My friend kept her maiden name and uses the title Mrs. I'm still unsure on surnames, I'm the last on my side to have my surname and my OH is the last on his side (I already have 2 girls and we're not having any more!) so I'm feeling 50/50 about it. And they don't go together well enough to double barrel.

The title isn't on the passport so not sure what to actually use. Still confused. Is Ms the safe option? I like being specific so Mrs shows I'm married but if using my maiden name technically I'm not Mrs "maiden name" because it's not hubby's name. Equally I'm not really Miss anymore because I'm married

Ms is the safest option. To be honest you really only have to put a title so that airlines know your gender from it and convention, so they know how to address you formally.

Id say mrs as you are married. Ms if you dont want people to know your married I know a few people who use Ms but they have been divorced.

I think I would personally used Mrs as I would want people to know I am married - I don't think you need to have your hubby's surname to be able to pull it off. My mum also uses Ms and is divorced - she kept my dad's surname when they divorced so I presume that is why.

My mum went back to her maiden name when she started getting books published, but is still married to my dad. She uses Mrs. with her maiden name as she did with dad's surname, as it indicates that she is married and she doesn't like Ms. Miss would be incorrect as that is for someone who is not married. Ms is acceptable in all cases, although wouldn't really make sense if you are married and using your husband's surname. I've known people who are divorced who use it, as they don't want to go back to Miss, and it can be used whether you keep your married name or revert to maiden name. I've known women get divorced but keep the ex-husband's surname as there are children with their dad's name, and the mother wants to use the same name as her children.

Thanks ladies, this is helpful. I too am not a fan of Ms, just personal preference but wondered if I had to use it when travelling or doing anything in my maiden name.
