I was quite nervous when we gave notice as it seemed so "formal" and serious!!! It was nothing to worry about though and was over and done with in about 30 mins. Every council is different but we were seen together at first so they could explain everything to us, then we were seen separately and were asked to confirm each other's full names, addresses, DOBs, occupations, whether we were born in the UK, whether we'd been married before and whether as far as we knew we were related. Had to sign something to say everything we said was true to the best of our knowledge and then that was it xx

Gosh that sounds so legal to avoid sham marriages. Wonder why you don't have to do it for church weddings. may have a quick look on the web!

It was quite scary seeing notices around the place warning you of the actions if you were found to be lying about anything... not that we were, but it's one of those things that makes you feel guilty/nervous even when you have no reason to!!! Like walking through the scanners at airports, lol.

I know what you mean. Start worrying about if you say his DOB wrong or something.
Couldn't find anything online. only that having your banns read is the equivalent but not sure its of the same level personally.

That's it then - my wedding is doomed before its even began. My OH is useless with dates. He's not going to get anything right with the registrars.

He constantly gets my birthday and his ex wife's birthday mixed up, she was 27 February and mine is 28th March - so I guess that's forgivable, but its the 10 years difference that I mind about, she was born in 62 and me in 72 lol.
He always gets the date we met wrong too.

I have a few months yet to work on his memory problems

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

From what I read online yesterday CofE church. if you are both EU citizens then you don't have to because the banns are the equivalent. Not sure about any other though.

So we gave notice yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Took about an hour to get through.

You do get separated. Who ever gets interviewed first has to answer all the questions. the second person literally confirms and signs there name.

Just basic questions about each other. Make sure you remember each others job titles :)

They then go through the ceremony how everything works and your emailed a pack to choose your wording and stuff. :)
