I am going to start looking for cake suppliers but do they usually charge for delivery? I know a lovely cake supplier who we have used in the past for birthday cakes but they aren't local to our reception venue. Would we be better looking at shops closer to there or does it not matter too much really.

Think it depends on the supplier. Ours is probably a good 45 minutes from the venue, but delivers for free within a certain mile radius.

Ahh ok. This would only be 30 mins max so maybe they will be alright. Will obviously look around but we have used this shop for years so know they are good. Will do some digging tonight and maybe send out a couple of emails :)

I think some do but it's not a huge amount and personally I'd pay it as I wouldn't want to be responsible for transporting the cake and least if they do it they have the experience and knowledge of it. Maybe ring them and ask :) x

I agree, the delivery charge isn't normally too bad and if you know the cakes are good it may be worth paying.....
They may do it for free if you've used them for years xx

We have used them but I doubt they know us. We don't get them very often.
Didn't have a look last night in the end. its on the to-do list!

Our delivery and set up charge is included in the cost of the cake, which is £210 and the venue is about 30/40 mins from her house xx

That's my other worry, the cost. We always wanted a simple cake without too much fuss going on so want to have another look with OH and get quotes from a few places for the same cake so is comparable.

My cake maker is in North Wales, She is a friend of my future FIL and is insisting on doing the cake for us as a wedding gift! We are in East yorkshire and the Wedding is being held over here. Cake maker insisted on bringing it over and setting it up so it doesnt get damaged in transit.

Wow that's dedication! So lovely of her to offer to do all of that for you though

Our delivery and set up was included in the quote. They're not far from the venue, about 30 mins. The cake tasting is the best part!

Ours was local to where we live but just under a 1 hour drive on a motorway to where our reception was. She charged a £40 delivery and set up fee which was so worth it.

I'm paying £50 for delivery and set up of my cake. We get married in edinburgh and she is based in glasgow, however she will travel with my venue decorator so they are splitting the delivery charge

Wow so different for some people. Unfortunately mil may be making cake but agreed with OH that I should still get quotes just in case... Fingers crossed...
