We ordered our rings months back and I came up a size smaller than my engagement ring which I thought fair enough as it is slightly too big we ordered and when they arrived we tried them on and mine was abit snug but fitted fine ( I have larger knuckles than my fingers so always a push to get rings over them) but just tried in now few months later and was a real push to get it on and took ages to get it back off and it hurt :( should I wait til out til closer and just keep trying on losing weight see if it makes a difference or should I get it made bigger? I don't want to weaken it but also want to be able to wear it forever and worry if I put weight on it will be one way too small :( feeling so sad tonight x

Aww hugs not need ce feeling sad over a wedding.
If you are trying to lose weight maybe give it another month and see how it fits then.
Speak with your jeweller, they will probably have dealt with this situation before, and will know the limits of the ring. Could you go half a size bigger?

We got it through one of those home agencies but might go onto a jeweller and ask what they would recommend and maybe see how long it will take and go from there I just don't want to bless it on the wedding day and it not last :( I've put a stone on in last 6 months so hoping by going back to slimming I'll lose that and the rest and it will make a difference it's just needs like you say a 1/2size x

If you are trying to lose weight I would wait and see if it fits better in a month or so.
It might be worth popping to a jewellers in the meantime and just asking what can be done if you still find it a little snug in a few months and if the work they suggest can be done before your wedding. X

I would wait another month, see how it fits and then see if it can be resized, most jewellers are probably used to this sort of thing, I woukd go to an independent as I'm not sure if chain stores touch anything that hasn't come from them xx

I'd wait a little while before thinking about it. It may be that you tried it on again when your fingers were a bit hot so bigger.

Thanks ladies I'm going to give it a month or two by which time I will have hopefully lost the stone I have gained and see how it fits then. My hands were quite warm at the time so guess that didn't help x

As the others have said, I would wait until nearer the time and then you can decide if you need it re-sizing or not. I will need both my engagement ring and my wedding band re-sized but I am holding off for as long as possible. I'm going to take them to a local independent jewellers too rather than a chain, that way the changes can be made in-house and they won't have to be sent away or anything.

Five months is plenty of time, and weight loss does show on your fingers. I ended up having both my wedding and engagement rings taken down a size after the wedding, as I had lost weight. It's worth getting some quotes for increasing the size just in case. It certainly can be done, they can add gold (or whatever metal it is) to the ring to make it bigger. Like Flossie I also used a local independent jeweller, I was much happier knowing they wouldn't be sent away and the jeweller who was going to do the work was able to speak to me in person.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Thanks ladies, I'm hoping the fact it was tight will kick me up the bum to stick with the diet and lose the extra weight haha x

My ring fit fine a month before the wedding, tried it on with a week to go & it didn't fit. I had to order one cheap on the bay.... It arrived on my wedding day!!! That was used for the ring exchange but my ring was used for close up photos. After the day I took it to Sam's hs & they resized it. It was also a home company.
