    Hi all. I got engaged in October to my amazing best friend. I only recently found this awesome site. We are getting married in 2017 however for the next year we are workng in South Africa. Any helpful tips regarding planning a wedding from afar would be brilliant!

    Hi Richelle, congratulations and welcome to the site!
    Are you abroad already? If not I'd suggest getting the venue che ked out in person and having a chat with their coordinator before you go. Most other things you can do online, or if needs be a phone call, as the to.e difference isn't too much.
    I'm getting married in Vegas, the main thing I would say is the time difference for us and being aware that most things will have a day turnaround on them.
    Have you decided on when in 2017 you are getting married? If its later on then you may be able the leave some things until you get back to the UK.

    Hi Steph thanks that brilliant. W are already in SA. Lee proposed 2 days before we flew out...didn't give me much chance to think about much at all really. I love the idea of being able to do things online, its knowing the quality of things though that I always question. There are a few things we plan on getting here in SA as it is sooo much cheaper as we are finding. i.e. the grooms suit...been quoted a bespoke handmade to measure suit for £100. Hopefully we will be back in time to see the venue (groom ha chosen a his parents got married there too before his mum died) before the wedding though our return date isn't set yet.

    Hi I'm Nirvana,
    Been with my fiancé for six years, but he had to move 300 miles away from me due to personal issues. I would travel to see him as much as I could and vice versa, around a year ago he got the opportunity to move in with me so he did have up his life down south and came back to the north! He proposed shortly after and I couldn't be happier :D

    Hey all, me and my fiancé got engaged back in June not long before our baby boy was born. I have only just started thinking about planning don't have an official date as such and don't have a clue what sort of wedding we want apart from that we both want it to be small and intimate. Do not want a church wedding as not particularly religious and do not want a registry office as this to me seems impersonal and not very unique.
