Hi All, Wondering if you could help?

I'm currently making my invites and want to give people a list of local hotels as there is not accommodation on site (we have done this on purpose as we didn't want people to feel pressured in to staying the night!)

What details do I need to include, so far I've got the name of hotel and an idea of price. Do I need to put the address and how far it is from the venue also?

    Many thanks

I think that would probably be enough, but yes distance would also be a good idea, or you could state within walking distance or 5 mins by car/taxi if you know.

If it was me I'd provide as much detail as possible (but that's just me lol). So name of hotel, the address, a contact telephone number/email address, cost information and the distance from your venue.

I would be the same as Flossie but didn't bother with price so they can choose what they want. Then they have all the details to look into it themselves.

Also think about the types of hotels you offer. I chose a budget cheap hotel, a luxury hotel and the closest one to the venue (as well as the one the wedding is at so 4 in total but if I were you I would leave it at 3)

True about the cost actually - I'd probably leave it out. I have included cost information on our invitations but then we have a flat rate across all rooms so it's not going to change at all. I'm guessing other hotels will have different rates for different rooms, for breakfast included etc. so maybe best for them to research that themselves.

Yeah Flossie, I have put the process of the packages we have been offered for our guests but left it off for the other hotels

I provided names of hotels, contact details like website and phone number plus cost and distance from venue. There was accommodation at our venue but wanted to give guests the option of cheaper hotels nearby.

Our guests could also get a discount at our reception venue so put details of how to book with discount in too.

We called up the nearest hotel and were able to block book some of the rooms and were given a discounted rate for these rooms. Guests could then call up and book a room quoting a particular code to get the discount so you could try to do something similar. We didn't have to pay out anything ourselves to do this, it just meant people got a cheaper rate. If all the rooms we have been allocated get booked, they will call us up and we can block book some more if needed or if they haven't been booked 6 weeks before the date, the hotel will release them for general sale. Thanks everyone! I have put hotel names, addresses and in the end I put prices but couldn't fit distance on too. Unfortunately there was only one hotel that would let me block book but they needed 50% on all the rooms which we can't afford so I'm just going to have to hope people get on to the case as soon as they receive the invitations!

I have put a note at the top warning everyone to book quickly as it is Cambridge University Graduation weekend on the weekend we're getting married. Thankfully we are getting married south of Cambridge so I've managed to find some Travelodge/Days Inn that isn't too extortionate so it will just be mine and H2B accommodation that will be pricy but I can cope with that!
