Hi ladies. Myself and my H2B went and viewed our venue on Saturday even without knowing our coordinator had cancelled. I had no voicemail or email stating this. With that in mind we didn't get any rough estimates of what things would cost.
I called the coordinator today and spoke about things we are wanting and if we are capable of them but didn't ask about rough estimates as had to do the school run. But she did email me a list of menus and and packages but it doesn't clearly state prices and and what we have figured is that it's around £90 per person for a three course meal based on 100 people which works out to £9000.
Am I right in Thinking that's ridiculous as I'm sure it's shouldn't cost anywhere near that!
It doesn't include drinks or canapés and children are extra.

I'm having a little panic attack as we really want this particular venue but it doesn't look like we can even think about putting a deposit down if this is the case.

I'm. Just wondering what you all paid for your venues if you have had or are having with the whole day in the same venue?

    Thank you xxx

We only had our reception at our venue as we got married in a church. For 105 people we paid the reception venue £14.5k but that included canapés and welcome drinks, 3 course wedding breakfast with half a bottle of wine per person and bottled water on the tables, hog roast and buffet for the evening, exclusive use of the venue and grounds, bridal suite for hubby and I on the wedding night and brekkie the next morning. Our guests also got a discount on the rooms if they wanted to stay over. Other little things like cake stand and knife plus events manager on the day etc were included too. We also got a fist anniversary afternoon tea given to us which we weren't expecting.

We had a peak season Saturday wedding so it was always going to be expensive for the type of venue we had.

I cannot remember to be exact but it was around £5k. That was the room for the ceremony, the room for the reception, 3 course meal, 2 bottles of wine per table and a glass of fizz for the toast, and the room for the night.

Our is coming in at about £14k. That's all day exclusive use, 110 for wedding breakfast, welcome drinks and canapés, bridal party buffet breakfast, post wedding breakfast, evening buffet for 160, bridal suite for the wedding night.

You may be better sitting down with the coordinator as ours priced up much higher until we sat down and talked it all through and we now get much more for our money.

I think it honestly depends on where your venue is. We are paying £5,800 for the venue plus £95 per person for the meal. BUT it is an expensive venue and it is where we wanted to get married.

We're getting married in a country house hotel on the outskirts of the Cotswolds and have exclusive use. For around 45 day guests and then a further 45 evening guests we have an estimate of around £6,000 which includes arrival drinks, a three course sit down wedding breakfast, wine on tables, the evening buffets, chair covers/sashes and the dance floor. It would be around £8,000 or so but we are asking our guests to pay for their own rooms which will cut the costs for us.

At the end of the day you just need to go with what you can afford. You will still have a fabulous day no matter where or what the cost. :)

Ours was about the same as that for 80 people day guests and 120 in the evening(£9750 ish) but included more, venue, arrival drink, 3 course meal, centre pieces, chair covers, bridal suite, anniversary dinner, guest book and corkage. Champagne for the toast and guest discount for room with breakfast. Buffet in the evening.

Would have been more but we removed the table wine and dj and provided our own which were better. And we got to keep any left over wine as it was ours.

Other places we looked at were more expensive (one was £12,000 just for the venue for four hours!!!) but these are London prices so we did well for what we got.

Ours is about £15k for 110 day and 130 evening guests. That's for the ceremony and reception and exclusive use of the castle. It's more than I thought we would pay but we love the venue so we decided to go for it.

Our reception venue is £4k. No ceremony as getting married in a church. Includes arrival drink, sit down 3 course meal, half bottle wine per person, evening for 90 people, chair covers and sashes, bridal suite for me and OH with breakfast next morning and guests get reduced rates on rooms too.

One venue we looked at was £8k but didn't like the function room. and our budget was £6k max. We love where we are getting married now. Its perfect.

That is right Emily, I honestly don't think anywhere on the IOW would cost over £10K for an all in wedding. The cost of mine was pretty average, and like you say, it was perfect for us.

We have the best of both worlds down here and everything in between. You have the venues for the smaller budgets, the outrageous budgets and the middle ground budgets - which I think ours falls into. Of course every girl dreams of this big fairytale wedding but it doesn't have to cost the earth. There are certain parts about our day that I never "dreamed" about, but it's still perfect for us and we will have an amazing day I'm sure.

We are also having quite a small, intimate wedding though. So if we had more guests like some people do our costs would have soared.

Our venue was around 7k, we had a "suite" in a hotel which is 2 function rooms and a large foyer, plus a huge outside courtyard. The cost included use of the "suite", welcome drinks, 3 course sit down meal, cake stand and knife, evening buffet and bar staff, and 2 coordinators for the whole day, plus the honeymoon suite for us. We had 60 day guests and an extra 30 in the evening.

Most venues near me are barns where it's like 5-6k just to hire the place. We went for a hotel to bring the cost down a bit plus the logistics were so much easier.

Around us its very everything too. There are cheaper function rooms, social clubs etc and beautiful really expensive hotels. We struggled really for our £6k there wasn't much around there but at the 4k there was a fair choice. it then went up to 8 and further. The majority is in the 8k+ mark if I'm honest

we're paying just under £7k, that's for the exclusive use of the venue on the day, accommodation in the manor house at the venue the night before and the night of the wedding (inc breakfast) ceremony room, welcome drinks, a 2 course wedding breakfast for 65 guests, 1/2 bottle of wine per person, a dessert focused buffet for 100 people and a glass of bubbles for everyone at midnight (we're getting married on NYE). The place we're getting married is beautiful but it wouldn't have been my first choice if we had a bigger budget, but I'm glad we didn't have more to spend else I wouldn't have looked twice at this venue and therefore would have missed out on a really gem!

We're paying just over £4K and that includes ceremony, wedding breakfast for 50 people, evening reception and buffet for 150 people, arrival drinks, drinks on the table and for speeches, bridal suite and other little bits too.
It's just like what the other girls said though- it's what is right for you :) have a chat with the co-ordinator and discuss what you want too because when I originally looked at mine the brochure showed typical packages but we had the option of changing things around which meant the cost changed too :) x

We knew that we wanted a big wedding (120 including children for the day) so a 'dream' venue with sit-down meal was going to be well out of our price range - the only venues large enough had general estimates around the £10K - £15K region.

So instead we are looking at a less formal option at a local community center, serving an afternoon tea instead of a three course meal and other such compromises. I wanted it to be a diy affair in any case, but I am still considering hiring an events organiser for the day. We'll see closer to the time.

Our venue charges per head, so as we are having a Saturday wedding, we have to have a minimum of 80 day guests. We've gone for the medium package at £85 per head and have approx 90 day guests, so in total approx £7650. This includes canapes and drinks on arrival for guests, 3 complimentary bedrooms and a 3 course meal. We then have to pay extra for the evening guests, but are just banking on doing fish and chips for £6 per head.

Our venue had a cancellation so we've managed to get a good deal. Ours is coming out at just under £8000 for ceremony fees, chair covers, venue hire, canapes, two course meal, welcome drinks, wine, hog roast and ice cream cart. we have based it on about 90 people day time and 150 evening.

It is certainly the price that puts the price up as our food is well over £6000 of the costs (ouch :()

We have taken a risk and gone for a very little known venue that has just started doing weddings,
I wanted a stately home wedding with exclusive use but can't afford the £20k that most seem to want!
I found this absolute gem through word of mouth it's £3500 for exclusive use of a Georgian mansion and all its grounds, it includes champagne reception, 4 bottles of wine per table, champagne to toast and their team to organise and run the wedding, bar and act as toastmaster and 4 bedrooms on the night!
I have to sort out the caterers myself but there are no restrictions on what I can have provided they are insured and reputable.

Hmm... I mean, it depends really what you're getting with that. You're looking at 2 years away, I assume from your countdown? In which case, there's probably going to be a little added each year to the cost for inflation. And is it a Saturday? May is supposed to be one of the "mid-range" months usually, like September, with June - Aug being the expensive ones IF your venue charges like that.

We've just had our quote in for 80 guests, for the whole day. with exclusive venue hire etc They will get a 4 alcoholic drinks (2 glasses of wine, 2 prosecco) a 3 course sit down meal and hog roast evening meal. Also included is the use of a boat for my arrival, guest tours on the water for 2 hours on the boat, bridal lodge for the night of the wedding, 2 rooms for the night before for the bridal party and the groom, and full English champagne breakfast for Sunday and Monday. That's come back at £7,800 for the end of September on a Sunday. Our DJ, Casino etc. are all outside vendors at an extra cost.

If you email the coordinator (if you haven't done already) your proposed date, number of guests, and likely choices for drinks package, what you want for your wedding breakfast and evening etc, whether you want canapes or whatever, then they should be able to give you a good idea of exactly what the total price will be so you can consider further whether it's at all viable? xx
