Okay,so I didn't meet my half sister until I was 15, and I have nothing to do with my dad. My sister still lives with him. I then lost contact with my sister until I was 18. We are Facebook friends but we never talk, apart from when she wished us congrats on our engagement. I don't know whether to invite her to our wedding. In one sense I want to invite her because she is my sister and I don't want to shut her out, but in the other sense we don't have a sister bond and we never talk or meet up. I am strongly against having my dad at the wedding, so she would be on her own and she doesn't know any of my family or htb family. I'm really stuck with what to do.

How about inviting her to an evening do? I would say plus one but she might bring your dad.
At the end of the day, go with your heart.

If someone isn't immediately a "certain" for the day list I'd say don't invite them. You will know for sure who you want to share your special day with! I agree with GF, maybe an evening only invite - does she have a boyfriend that she can bring with her?

An evening invite seems a good compromise. It may bring you closer together x

I would invite her as she may feel closer for you doing so :) then if she decides not to come then you know where your friendship stands
If you're not sure then usually its a no, I'd suggest maybe an evening invite.

How far away is the wedding? Can you arrange to meet up with her a few times, maybe with other family members or friends? That way you can start to build a relationship with her and she gets to meet a few other people. Then you might have a clearer sense of how much you want her there.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I was going to suggest the same as elinor. Maby send send a fb message and ask to meet up a few times, you never know you may really get on :). If you don't want to do that then invite Her to the evening do, at least then you have made a effort to try and include her in your day. Xx

I first spoke to my half sister when I was 13, we met when I was 17 and flew out to Australia. I then done the working holiday thing when I was 24. We used to speak 3-4 times a week but we haven't really talked much in the last 5 years since she moved in with her crazy mother (I refuse to call that woman's house)
I guess what I am saying is you say you don't talk much, there had to be effort made on both parts. I used to make all of the effort to call my sister, I sent birthday cards, Christmas cards everything. I had one birthday card in 32 years. If you are not making the effort to strike up conversation maybe she feels she can't as she thinks you don't want to be closer. I know I feel that way with my sister. I spent 15 years making an effort and travelled thousands of miles but her brothers in Australia don't call or visit but yet she thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread. If you put more effort in to your relationship she might do the same xx
