Im going for my first look around bridal shops in 2 weeks time. Im booked in to try on dresses see what I like (though I do have a set style I like) but want to know should I buy what I plan to wear underneath before I go to the bridal shop or after I've decided what dress I want? Not sure if the assistant will expect me in a properly fitted bra etc even though I might not buy my dress from the shop.

Just wear comfy undies, not what you're planning to wear on the actual day.

Don't wear a thong! Don't want to flash your bottom unless you're confident or a 510gg13 model lol. I just wore French knickers and a decent comfy bra set when trying on dresses.

haha good idea. Thank you. I wasn't sure because I've heard about lumps from the underwear not making the dress fit right and they need an idea how it falls on the body.

I didn't buy my wedding day undies until about 4 months before the big day. You'll only need to wear the bra you're wearing on the day when you go for your fittings to make sure the dress is altered taking into account the undies you'll be wearing.

Agree with Idl. I did buy a decent white strapless bra though. I only had black strapless so needed one anyway. Thought it would look better than the straps shoved into the bra to get a better feel of the dress

Your actual underwear might need to be different. I wanted a basque for under my dress but have tried it one with one at home and the boneing from the basque show through the dress so can only wear a normal bra. Good reason not to buy before the dress

I don't think I'll be wearing a bra under my dress as the boning on the top is enough but then I've not got a huge chest so some people may feel they need more support. I agree with the other ladies to wait until you have your dress and just go with comfy but well fitting underwear for now. Enjoy shopping for your dress. Its so much fun! X
