any other brides to be or recently married brides planning/planned on trying straight after the wedding? I'm thinking of not taking my next packet of my pill on wednesday and seeing what happens my only concern is my wedding is in 3 weeks and i know you have a withdrawal bleed but im worried i might come on at random times with my body getting back into sync and with my honeymoon straight after (but i was due a period on my 7 day break on the honeymoon anyway) I'm hoping to get pregnant quite soon but seeing quite a few ladies that have been trying for years makes me think i would rather get the ball rolling now so if i do have a problem conceiving my year of trying would start next week and I'm 29 and want about 4 kids so don't want to hang about.
I'm quite nervous but very excited and worried I'm setting myself up for a fall but we will see, just wanted to see if anyone else is in the same boat?
    xx

It depends on your body and if it's like clockwork or abit over the place. Don't set ur hopes on falling pregnant within minutes as your only get upset when u have a period ( saying from experience lol) if you know when ur ovulating you can risk doing it early but you have the choice of stopping now n bleeding early or not afford few weeks or stopping day of wedding n having bleed on honeymoon? I'd be inclined to come off now as 'should' bring on a bleed sooner but only if ur like clockwork. If u don't want to worry maybe stay on pill til after honeymoon so u don't have that extra stress n worry, x

When I came off the pill my cycle reverted to normal straightaway. I finished the three weeks that I was on, and then after the last withdrawal bleed I got a period 32 days later. I wasn't on the pill when we married as I abstained until marriage, but I took something that my doctor prescribed that is a hormone treatment that delays your period, as I knew I'd be due on the honeymoon. I've only been trying a couple of months, as we waited until we bought a bigger house, but I'm really impatient to have my first, as I'm nearly 33 and they don't look for problems until 18 months of trying, when I'll be 34.

I had a period just after stopping my pill years and years ago, then got pregnant straight away. It all depends on you, your cycle and sperm. SOme fall straight away, some do not, it's just one of those things.

I stopped taking the pill for health reasons, and I have always had excellent skin, but when I discontinued it. My hormones were re-adjusting for about a month, and I kept getting the odd spot. I wouldn't do it before my wedding, incase of potential skin, mood or weight change. If you and your fiance are both ready though, nobody can tell you both when is best.

When I came off the pill it took us around 6 months to conceive our LO. My periods never really became regular but I thought I had food poisoning but went to the walk in centre and she told me I was pregnant :-/ I was sick a lot with morning sickness for a week before I found out until the day I had him so I probably won't try again until just after the wedding. Good luck to you x

i can understand why you would want to wait until after the wedding!
with my partner in the military we only have a certain time frame to try before he then goes off on tour for a while so I'm just praying that it won't take ages else we will have to wait about 3-4 years to try again properly :-/

    thank you mrs M :-)
im 30 at the moment so i know the longer we wait especially when I'm reaching 34-35 it can be harder to conceive.
its weird to think that woman spend their sexually active years trying not to get pregnant but when they want to sometimes it just doesn't happen!

I came off the pill 19 months ago as we hoped to conceive and have a baby before our wedding with plenty of time to spare. Unfortunately it hasn't happened yet for us and we are just about to undergo tests to see what is happening, I am 35! I too would say don't build your hopes up, the disappointment for us has been really hard to take. It also now raises the question of what happens if we do conceive in the next month or so and the wedding etc... but I think we would just be over the moon and deal with it from there.
I wish you all the best for your plans - personally, I would say is if you are concerned about it affecting the wedding for the sake of another 3 weeks or so I would maybe wait and stop perhaps towards the tail end of your honeymoon.

sorry to hear that Kjs2016 and yes even if you do fall pregnant now the joy of the pregnancy will over shadow the wedding stress anyway!
iv just got off the phone from my doctor just so i had some advice with coming off my pill and she has told me to start taking folic acid now to prepare my body now for when we start trying, she said the more folic acid i have in my system the less chance of misacarriage and birth defects and she recommends that for anyone 30 or above, going to buy some today

That sounds like great advice from your GP re the folic acid. I feel a bit of dinosaur having read these posts. We want to start trying after the wedding. I am worried it won't happen as I'm 38 and will be 39 by the time we get married, so am stressing that a) it won't happen and b) birth defects given my age. OH will be 38 so I've already told him he needs to start changing his diet - there is nothing of him, but he eats way too much rubbish! Have taken note of the folic acid.

hi lindsey :-) i know everyone is different but my future mother in-law is my OH's step-mum and she married his dad about 10 years ago, well she was 36 when they met and they went on to have 3 children she's now in her 40's and her youngest is 2 so it is possible to have children that age that are perfectly healthy.
the folic acid iv seen them in t£$(o and the drug of super at only £8 for 30 so its definitely worth picking up. I'm not going to take my pill packet on wednesday so technically we would be trying from wednesday onwards after my withdrawal bleed. i was going to wait until after honeymoon but my doctor said in her opinion i should just come off it now and let my body sort it self out.

Thanks - that is encouraging to hear!! I do sometimes tend to be a little pessimistic about these things, but I did have my palm read years ago and was told I'd have one pregnancy and two babies, so thinking twins - they run in my family and in his too....!!! Thanks for the tip off too re where to purchase from - I shall have a look tomorrow when we're in town. I've only been on the pill since about last April, but before that was on it for years. I am thinking of using an implant in future. Good luck - think you're brave wanting 4!!!! xx

It's hard for anyone to give advice on this, as it will effect everyone differently.
For instance I'm 36, I came off the pill about 10 years ago and haven't had a day late since I settled back down...despite tests, they can't find any reason we've not conceived yet.

When I came off, I didn't bleed for nearly 8 months! My skin went terrible, sensitive and blotchy and I get very spotty on my chest when I'm due now.

My sister came off the pill, no side effects whatsoever and pregnant before her next cycle... No two women are the same. But everyone tells me not to stress or worry, even my doctor said it. But 10 years on and nothing.

Like Leasa said every woman is different.

I'm healthy, don't drink or smoke and exercise yet I see people who drink smoke and do no exercise get pregnant. Plus they're older than me.

I am currently 34 and will be 35 when we get married. I have been on the pill for years and years, since I was about 16 as I had horrible heavy periods and the doctor recommended it and it's kind of been there ever since. I am thinking of stopping at the end of this year and taking 'other' precautions so as not to get caught before the wedding and to give my body time to regulate and hopefully not change my body too much for the wedding. I will have 5 months from coming off the pill to getting married so hoping my hormones are back to normal by them. We will start trying as soon as the wedding is done but I am also quite pessimistic about it and keep thinking 'it might not happen and if it does it will take ages' but I need to just chill and hope for the best.

I will be a few weeks shy of my 33rd birthday when we get married next year. we will start trying about 3 months before the wedding and due to having polycystic ovaries, my dr has advised that if I am not pregnant after 6 motnhs I would be seen for testing. That realistically means if I am not pregnant by october next year we can see fertility specialists. I also don't use any hormonal contraception. I stress about not being able to get pregnant as I was diagnosed also with endometriosis so I have 2 conditions that can affect your chance of getting pregnant. I never used any contraception with my ex for over 3 years and never fell and me and my fiance are not particularly careful now and havent been for the last 2 years. Hopefully one day soon it will happen. I suppose we just need to try and keep an optimistic mind and and think that it will happen. xx

This is all so interesting to read I thought that I may be one of the only b2b stressing about potentially falling pregnant before the wedding as well as stressing about being unable to conceive!
I have just turned 30 and my OH & I have been ttc for 3 years, we have had all the tests done & there's no official reason as to why we cannot conceive! We are currently going through the referral process to get IVF on the NHS & I am debating whether to put this off for a while to rush getting the wedding done, or go through the process & hope that I'll fall pregnant on the first IVF cycle, have the baby & then we can have our wedding at the end of 2016??? There's so many variables to consider...
