Just been watching Four Weddings US. One couple did their first dance when their guests were sat down waiting for the wedding breakfast instead of at the beginning of the reception. I really love that idea and am going to pinch it.

I think it's lovely idea as everyone will be able to see and will actually watch rather than sometimes they do it in evening and ppl don't notice or can't see! Our dj won't be set up til later otherwise I'd be tempted to do it to x

Our venue said we could play CDs through the PA system during dinner so we could just get them to play whatever song we choose first which is great.

That sounds like a great idea. It also means that you can relax afterwards and enjoy the wedding breakfast without thinking that you still have the first dance to do.

Yeah it's for that reason that I don't think we are having a first dance- we don't really have "a" song and we both have quite different music tastes and I hate being the centre of attention so feel that of we are both going to worry and stress over it then there is no point in doing it just because that is what you are "meant" to do at a wedding.
So yeah I think it's refreshing to mix weddings up a bit otherwise they all just become the same :-)
It's a nice idea8, bit different but if it's what you would like to do then go for it.

It's just the American way of doing things. I personally wouldn't as then. Y evening guests would miss out seeing something special, this is the reason I am also waiting until the evening to cut the cake xx

Seems like a interesting idea. I'd be worried about paying the dj more, and for time they won't be working (wedding breakfast/speeches)

We aren't really inviting any extra guests in the evening. We want everybody there for the whole day.
