I have been obsessed with Thinking Out Loud for a while now, but it's a pretty common first dance song, and if possible I really don't want that. However, nothing else will do... until I heard I Wasn't Expecting That by Jamie Lawson.
It's a lovely song. I really love the music, the pace, the lyrics, everything... right up until the end. I don't know if anyone's heard it, I imagine so, but it's a pretty sad ending.
My question is, if we were to have it and cut it off at about 2 mins (before they get married, because he says "married in Spring" and we're getting married in Autumn), is it tempting fate? Some of the last lines are "When the nurses they came, said 'it's come back again', I wasn't expecting that"... etc. I only ask because in January I had some abnormal test results and had to have treatment. I've had abnormal results again and am going back for a second look tomorrow.
I really love the song and the beginning I just... I dunno. Does anyone know of any similarly paced romanticy songs that aren't too lovey-dovey?

its not tempting fate, remember it is only a song, i think those closing words (im guessing its the end of the song anyway, ive not heard it) might be hitting too close to home considering your history and not really ''wedding-y'' either, so i am sure you could fade the last part out to not include those lines. unless you can find an instrumental version of it in its place?
best of luck with your test results xxxx

I don't know the song but if you don't want the ending what about asking do to merge two songs into one so you start with that one then have it end with a different song? X

I was going to say the same as MrsC2Bee, turn it into a medley. My husband and I did that, starting with Just the Way You Are, and going into a more upbeat one (We All Stand Together, bit silly really but it got a laugh). Maybe you could combine it with something more upbeat. Good luck with the tests, I hope it all comes back ok.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Thanks Elinor. I don't get the results for 4 weeks now, but just from looking today the doctor said she thinks I'm fine :) So, I feel better already. I like the idea of merging two songs though, i hadn't considered that. :)
