has anyone had an afternoon tea style wedding breakfast? i would be interested to know how this went?
our big day is next may and we are not getting married till 2pm, so we are hoping afternoon tea will be enough to see the guests through untill we have our hog roast in the evening, neither me or my fiance are into a big formal sit down meal but love an afternoon tea, but am stuck on how we would let guests know about this before the day.
i would appreciate any feedback on how this worked and what your guests thought. any pictures you have would be fab

It's a lovely idea, hopefully your guests will have had a good breakfast or light lunch before your ceremony.

Just pop details in an "additional information sheet" enclosed with the invites stating what will replace the traditional wedding breakfast that way guests are pre warned. Afternoon tea is lots of sandwiches, cake and scones so should be substantial enough for most people, scones are heavy!

I think its a great idea and you should do what you want, if you pop it on an insert with the invites guests will know to eat before the wedding and being at 2pm id assume most people would eat a light lunch before attending xx

Hiya, we having afternoon tea and hog roast , our ceremony is at 12.30pm, we having canapes though at 1pm, afternoon tea at 2pm then hog roast at 6.30pm and cheese on toast for anyone that wants it at around 10pm . We having a wedding weekender so I set up wedding website with all the details on, so much easier than cramming all the details on to invites. Plus people can rsvp on it. I have a wedding FAQ page and have written on there that its afternoon tea and what time its served so people are aware. My wedding is October will post on this forum after to let people know how it went :)
