I have only got one friend and she moved away from me and her family years ago. Of course still keep in touch and visit on breaks away when possible but apart from her I have no one. Shes my maid of honor and its very difficult to make wedding arrangements/ideas when she is 8 hours travel away from me so I have been trying to sort out my own hen party. I work with 8 women at work, all are at least 20 years older than myself, one is close to retirement age and I don't find I connect with all of them. To make up the numbers I chose to include them when I hired a party bus for my hen night. An hours traveling around in it with disco lights drinks and a pole but I've decided to cancel the party bus because I don't want to have to invite people just for the sake of making numbers. I'm really stuck what to do for my hen party. My plan was to have a spa treatment with just me and my mum and partying with the rest of the girls at night but then my sister said she doesn't like going out drinking and so I included her to the spa/massage treatment and then herself and my mum go home. But then my fiance niece that is 12 years old heard about the spa treatment along with his sister and they want that as well. So now I have to find somewhere that will allow children to go to and a place not so far from home so my sister and mum can go back. His sister is suggesting we stay in a cabin out of our home town or a hotel but of course my sister and mum wont want to do that and my sister would have to go back to her son. If I was to book somewhere for a hen spa day/night I've still got the problem of not alot of girls to invite. I know they say its not down to how many people you invite but I'm sure having only 4 people for a hen party isn't possible. A couple of women from work I would like to join but once you invite one then have to invite all. Helllppp! I always have wanted a spa treatment. An hour massage would be gorgeous. Abit of pampering but wanted it to be a mother daughter thing. What on earth do I do?? Should I think of something different altogether?

why not do something like afternoon tea to invite the masses to and then have your pampering stuff just with your mum

Its a good idea thank you but the women I work with are not into that sort of thing. They like the loud music and the drinks flowing. His sister and niece want the pampering stuff as well. When they want something they are very pushy into having it but then say its up to me but the party bus idea didn't go down too well. She gave me the occasional comments. Very outspoken. I know I shouldn't think about if everyone else is happy but it is part of the key to a good night.

Remember its the company who make a good time.

Pick something that you'll be happy doing that also others will take part in. Only invite those you really want to spend your hen with x

First of all I wouldn't go changing your spa day around for a 12yr old if you want just you and your mum you book it. You could maybe have drinks with the wild ones on the night after your pamper then you've included who you wanted to include and get to make a good fill day of celebrations xx

If you like GF idea of afternoon tea, some places offer it with a glass of fizz as well as tea so this could the best of both worlds And would still include your niece (but without the fizz for her). I agree with Zoe though that if you just want the spa day with your mum, then just have it with her. x

I think you will find most spa places don't allow under 16's I know the ones in my local area don't. You should have the Spa day how you want it. X

That's true, I've also noticed spas I've been to don't allow under 16's.

Alternatively you could hire some independent mobile beauty therapists to come to someone's home and set up to give treatments to your hens all evening and you could get some yummy snacks, takeaway and bubbly in.

You should just book a spa for you and your mum then surprise her and then tell the others later it was part of your mothermof the bride present

Me personnally I am not much into hen parties that involve nights out or a lot of drinking. I don't precisely what is happening on mine as I have left it in the control of my BMs but they know me well enough that I like relaxing things or doing activities. Most of all though for me it is very much about the people who will be there.

My OH only went on a stag with his best mate to go and see Top Gear live (or rather Clarkson, Hammond and May) in Sheffield and they had an awesome time.

He showed me some videos of what happened. One was one of a woman who had flame throwers attached to her arms and cars on fire around her. Pretty awesome.

Hey,I don't have a lot of "close" friends either. Prob two close friends & a lot of acquaintances at work & martial arts class.

So for my stag I have invited a few guys from work that I have been out with at other peoples events (engagement, birthday etc) & a few guys from the martial arts class. As well as future brother-in-laws & just to be inclusive I've invited some of my fiancés friends partners. This wasn't to make up numbers but a good opportunity to get to know some of my fiances friends partners.

I think my point is that although your own regular social circle might not be large there will be a lot of people you could get to know better. After all there might not have been a reason to be out socially with them before, now is the perfect opportunity.

I don't have lots of friends either there were 5 of us altogether one hen weekend and we had the best time! Because there weren't lots of people that didn't know each other so they didn't segregate off in smaller groups no one had any arguments and we didn't lose anyone! Plus the rounds were easier to get in! Ha

How about, you get all the ladies in your family - little ladies too, and arrange something at home or your mums house?
You can get a company to come out to you that'll do facials and waxing and massages for the adults, and another company that specialise in childrens princess parties, they'll do their hair and paint their nails a few glittery fake tattoos etc.
Throw on a few feather boa's, get some cocktail making on the go, arrange a buffet, play a few games. It could be a right laugh and all in the comfort of your own home, or someone elses - it's what I plan to do with everyone before I drag a few adults in to town for the night as some of the ladies will have children to care for and therefore won't be able to make the clubs and pubs. It get's everyone involved. xx
