Hiya! Not entirely sure if but someone has just told me that red and white for wedding colours are actually bad luck! I've just changed my colours from gold to red and I have an Ivory and white dress, my mum doesn't like the idea of red and said its bad luck (some of my family are crazy superstitious) I've never heard anyone actually say it's bad luck, maybe my mum just doesn't like the idea of red lol! Does anyone else know of any little quirky superstitions? Xxx

Never heard of red and white being bad luck - obviously a lot of other people have never heard this as surely red and white is one of the most common colour schemes! Someone posted on here the other day that it's bad luck to marry on a Saturday too - again, never heard of that one.
I'm not one for superstitions anyway xx
Happily married

I've never heard of that and it is a very common colour. The only thing about red I heard was red and green should never be seen.

Oh no lol! I'm getting married on a Saturday too! My mum is making sure I wear my veil - my mums nan told her that if a woman doesn't wear her veil walking down the isle, the marriage is doomed because you let bad into the service! I honestly can't help but giggle at these but some people take them really seriously and when my mum is really adamant about something i actually start to think about it! I've got red and Ivory (with gold incorporated) - Clairenina - i wouldn't say I'm that superstitious either, I wonder where these little things come from! Lol xx

Ridiculous! Red is a lucky colour in my culture so my sister and I and other weddings I've been to have had red.

Oh dear, old wives tales, don't take any notice. Most people have their weddings on Saturdays, and had red as their scheme. And have no worse luck than anyone else. White is bad luck in Chinese culture. They wear it to funerals. Red is the color of weddings.

lol i love the colour its so bold. BUT after a four hour argument with my mum and sister - they didn't like red dresses i chose, so after making a group chat with my bridesmaids and sister, after half an hour of my sister bossing everyone around and shooting down their ideas ( she isn't chief bridesmaid either) i got a message from my mum, my sister was forwarding ALL messages between us in the PRIVATE group chat to my mum who was getting on my sisters side agreeing with everything she said and nothing my bms said... in the end one of the bms sent me this beautiful gold dress so i ordered 4 and told them thats what they're going to wear. my sister was not to impressed, neither was my mother, thing is my mum went on telling me that i couldn't have red because it was bad luck... my bms pick the most beautiful red dresses and mum says no... my sister picked the most trashy looking dress that was backless, armless and a huge slit up the side of the left leg and it was bright red, and it was perfect! lol! so when i shot that down i got a message saying "you should choose what your sister chose" ... eventually i asked how my mum knew all the groups conversations, and quickly ended that group convo!! so basically... i no longer have a red theme, its a champagne and red theme and its looks beautiful!!

White is fine at Chinese weddings, most Chinese brides wear a traditional western style white wedding gown for part of their day then change into something more traditional in red.
Glad you have managed to find something you're now happy with x
