Has anyone done this instead of a table plan and place cards and how did it turn out? We're having an afternoon tea instead of a wedding breakfast so this would be right up our street, however Iv never been to a wedding that uses escort cards. Iv seen its quite big in America though xx

What are they? Never heard of them.

We had the traditional table plan and place cards. All the weddings I've been to have done it the traditional way.

Ooh cool, that's a good idea. Gives the guests an element of surprise. Why don't we do this more?

I'd suggest maybe asking ushers to help guests with what to do if they're not familiar with the concept. Sounds straight forward to me though. Maybe have an Usher handing them out or supervising the table with the envelopes laid out then another to show people the tables if they're still confused.

What I was going to do was have Keys with brown luggage tags on them with their name and table and a sign saying please take your key, but good idea will get a couple of our ushers hanging around just incase xx

Is this like what they did in friends? where they had the table with all the cards lined up with guests names on and the table number written in the middle (I think it was Chandler and Monica's wedding lol)

They seem silly to me I want people in specific places and they are same as place cards so would be a waste to have both. I want certain people say next to others they don't know as I know they have similar interests etc that they will get on.

I think it depends on what the bride and groom like and want.

    I think it's a nice idea.

That's why I thought instead of place cards. My sil had no seating plan what so ever and it ended with her and bridal party sitting all over the place because they came in last. I think it's nice this way to have some control over where abouts people are, but once at their tables they can sit where they want. If we were going for a wedding breakfast I think I'd choose a table plan because it's easier for the caterers to know who's having what xx
