Myself and my partner have decided to save up for a whole year after our wedding to go to Thailand early 2016 so we can go for a few weeks in luxury.

Just wondering if anyone has decided to go down the multi-centre route instead of the usual all inclusive holiday?
    What's the pro's and con's??

I am very spontaneous love doing random things and John is very Analytical and everything has to have a plan.

We need places to go and see, festivals, beaches, shows etc to take into consideration that we can both enjoy.

Would greatly appreciate if anyone has any ideas or stories of there own experience going down this route

    Many thanks

    Tom

We got married in Vegas and 2 days later hopped on a Harley and rode up to the Grand Canyon, stopping at little towns en route, so whilst not strictly a multi-centre, it certainly wasn't a fixed site! It was awesome and just what we wanted - neither of us enjoy just sitting on a beach or being in just one place. There's so much to see in the world, why spend all your time in one place?! :)

Even our holiday last year was like that. We hopped on the Harley and travelled down the East coast of the USA from NYC to Orlando over 10 days. We battled with the hurricanes a bit but it only added to the adventure! We decided to do it as like your fiancée, I'm a planner but my hubby is a bit more spontaneous. I have to be a planner at work so decided to get out of my comfort zone and didn't even have nay of the hotels en route booked, just the first night and last two!

My ex inlaws go on holidays a lot where they book more local stuff, and not all inclusive. They love it and get into the culture more, enjoying the country more

I do apologise for my impatience lol

I work nights and I must still be in night shift mode haha.

Little Kettle - that sounds such fun! We have been to Corfu together and had trips around the UK so we want our honeymoon to be jam packed of adventure but enough time to relax and wind down before coming back to the rat race lol

We're planning to do exactly this for our honeymoon :) We looked at tours first, to see what sort of routes they would take. We haven't booked anything yet but essentially we then made a plan of what we wanted to see.

The tours tend to pick up on most of the tourist hot spots anyway and what is likely to be of interest. We had our own stuff we wanted to do for example I want to volunteer at the street dog foundation in Phuket and he really wants to go round the green lung in Bangkok.

Are you on trip advi-whatsit? We posted our itinerary on there, and people were really helpful with telling us how to get from a) to b) and giving us ideas for what to do in various cities that we hadn't even thought of, and also telling me off for trying to do too much all at once... heh

My H2B Steve is very much not wanting to plan it out, very spontaneous, wants to see and do everything whereas I both need and love to plan!

We intend to spend a few places where it pretty luxurious and then some where it's just budget, which is about £10 a night in Thailand. Lol. Also I recommend signing up to secr3t3scape and v0y@g3pr1v3 because they sometimes have 2 or 3 night stays in some pretty amazing places for rather nice prices :) x

we're hopefully (budget and babysittersallowing) doing two weeks multi centre in the states me and H2b have different ideas what we'd like to do so wanna do everything we're not the type of people to just lay on a beach somewhere for 2 weeks we wanna explore so are thinking of doing a few nights in new york then fly to vegas for a few nights and finish off island hopping in hawaii xx

Myranny - that's excellent news..I'm glad we're not alone in the multi centre Asia holiday situation lol.

We were thinking that too..we don't wanna be surrounded by thousands of tourists but we do want to see the beauty of the continent.

We haven't planned a specific itinerary yet as just after our actual wedding in October, we are going on our honeymoon to either the Greek Islands ( visited Corfu in October and fell in love with the island), Cyprus, Malta etc in slight comfort and luxury..just for 7-10 days to relax completely and soak in the sun - I am keeping a close eye on v0y4g3 Pr1v3 & s3cre7 3sc4p3s for those and also through my work benefits it allows special discounts.

Then we plan to save for 12-16 months and then go crazy over there..we have found a lovely private villa by a private beach and close to the rainforest and mountains to stay for a week and then we will most likely wing it as we should hopefully have plenty pennies to live most comfortably on over there..well...that's the plan, weather or not it happens that way is another story but my fingers are crossed :)

What's your trip-4dv1s0r name and I will have a wee ok at your itinerary..it may help us too hehe

That is a good question... I think it's Myranny or GlamRockSocks. If not, if you make your profile public I can post the link on your wall. :)

Apparently, as long as you don't go over there in peak season you should easily find hotels either cheap or plush rather easily and the plush ones are what you'd expect to pay for a travel lodge in London, so you know, well worth it.

We were looking at Greece as well :) We went up and down Italy when we first met, 6 cities in 10 days, and wanted to do something similar over there but over 3 weeks. Asia is a big "must do" for my H2B though so thought we might as well do it as a honeymoon. And of course he can't just do Thailand. As we're out there, we'll have to do Cambodia and Vietnam, and 3 weeks has quickly become 4!
