I'm wanting to get oh an engraved pocket watch as his main gift.
However I'm struggling when looking for one, I don't know what a decent price is for one. I have seen some ranging from £60-£100 (I wouldn't want to spend more then that) but I have also seen some on the bay for £30
Obviously I want a good quality one that isn't going to just break or stop working, but at the same time I don't want to spend more money then I have to.
What is a reasonable price for a pocket watch? What are good brands as well that I should look out for?

I have just got one for my dad from @rg0s viewed it before buying and it is lovely £ 39.99 and they can engrave them for you. Still waiting for a quote from my local engraver but if not they will let me take it back to them and they will send it off for doing. Also if there are any people's when they do it and it gets damaged they will replace it free of charge.

H2B bought himself one to wear on our wedding day. He paid about £80 on bay of E. It's about 100 years old and exactly what he was looking for. Depending on what you want you could also try W4tch Sh0p online. You can get them on there for around £40.

I'm actually really annoyed with him, it's his birthday in Feb and he's just said if people ask what to get him, I should suggest a pocket watch... I said do you really think that's a birthday present and he said well what would it be? (He's talking about it now still, I don't want to say duh we're getting married this year.... as it will give it away but feeling like I might have to say something :/)

hun can i just say you are going to get what you pay for ... if you want a solid silver one then you are going to have to pay , i bought an antique silver one dated 1889 which was a really good maker plus a silver fob chain and paid a fair bit ( already been told i did well well and its worth more )
He's mentioned the more bronzed look one's, which was the one good thing coming from him wanting one for his birthday as I was looking at silver.
I know you get what you pay for, especially with something like a watch, but I have seen some which are quite expensive and then have seen similar from the same brand cheaper somewhere else... which just strikes me as odd... it really doesn't help that I have no idea what I am looking for and what is a good brand or anything, completely out of my depth with it.

are you looking for an antique one or a modern one .
I'm thinking an antique one... or at least that kind of look. But if I saw the right modern one then I wouldn't say no either. (sorry I know that doesn't help you in trying to help me)
I can't believe how hard it is trying to find this, I honestly think this has been the worse thing for me wedding wise in finding the right one.

the best place to look for an antique pocket watch is to go to a watch/clock fair ,where you have people who know what they are talking about ( its where i got mr lala`s)
