hi i have a slight problem deciding who to have on my top table, their are the obvious ones like the mother/father of the bride/groom but where do the bridesmaids sit? groomsmen? page boy (my little brother) i am highly considering doing a sweetheart top table (i dont think its called that but its something similar) where it is just me and the groom and then have two separate tables next door so in total there would be three but i am stumped as to how to do it and in which order to sit people

    thanks!

We are just having both sets of parents and the best man. My bridesmaids will all be sat on a table together and I'm not choosing a MOH. Traditionally, it would be both sets of parents, MOH and best man.

It is a sweetheart table where just you and your OH sit at the 'top table' :) I wouldn't worry about having the 2 tables under the top table as it might get a bit confusing. Just put them on Table 1 or 2 or however you are naming the rest of your tables x

We are having whole bridal party but not ohs mam n step dad theyve had nout to do with me n my kids since my sons christening 2012 so weve got no intention of including them. H2b doesnt get on with them n tbh she prbs wont even show up so its really not a problem for us. Thwres still 12 on top tabkw

Me h2b our 2 kods my mam n dad my neice my bro is a groomsman n his gf is a bridesmaid best man other bridesmaid and the other groomsman lol

We thought it wud even the table a little for the "formal" bit and we r leaving a. Sparw seat nxt to their partners for later on so they dont feel like they have to sit with us all night! We wont b there anyway b dancin n minglin lol x

If struggling, why not go without, you could have a top table with just the two of you like you mentioned,

We had two best men and two MOHs so they were on top table. The teenage bridesmaids sat on a table with other teenagers, and H2Bs sister (the other bridesmaid), who is disabled, was with her carer on a siblings table alongside my brothers and their wives and my husband's SIL (his brother - her husband - was one of the best man).

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Families are often much more complex nowadays than they would have been back in the traditional day.. There is no right or wrong about who should sit where, it's completely up to you and what you feel comfortable with :) for me, I didn't want loads of people at the top table and wanted it to feel intimate with just our parents (and best man, who is also OH's brother). We are very lucky as both sets of our parents are divorced and 3 of them re-partnered/re-married, but thankfully they all still get on with each other! x

On the top table (which was actually a round table due to a) space and b) preference (easier to see and talk to everyone)) we had myself and OH, both my parents, his dad, the best man, the MOH, and my brother. We'd had issues with his mum and only invited her as we felt it would be the lesser of two evils, so we sat her at another table with OH's brother and his girlfriend, and her brother and sister in law and their youngest daughter, plus my godmother and her husband.

The groomsmen were then sat at a long table with their partners and their other friends and 5 of my parents' friends, and the remaining 3 bridesmaids were sat at another long table with their parents and my aunt, uncle and cousin.

We wanted to keep people together as much as possible, but we still wanted a fairly traditional top table.

I still far far away from my big day, but I already think about this kind of thing. I used to think about the traditional way, but I'm worried cause my MoH is the gf of his brothers... and then I think this brother will be his Best Man... so we would have just this brother and his gf on the top table... and the other 2 brothers, that don't get along very well, on another table... So, maybe, it would be better to have just the parents on the top table...
But I love the idea of the sweetheart table (mum would hate me forever lol)

You can either go for the traditional top table or do something different like we did.

We had hubby and I, my parents, his dad and his dad's GF, my sister (she was MOH) and her hubby, SIL (no formal role in the wedding) and her hubby and their two little ones (one was a FG).

The best man and ushers were dispersed amongst the other guests and my other adult BM was also sitting at a regular guest table - at a special guests table. Think it makes the other guests feel special being on a table with someone from the actual bridal party.

Our top table is going to be really small just me H2B, best man (his son), my son (who's giving me away) my daughter (bridesmaid) and my mum (sadly lost my dad last year) Our tables will be holding 6-7 guests each so I think this is a nice balance, my maid of honour will be sitting with her husband

We are having a sweetheart table as choosing a top table was causing too many arguments so we just decided to let everybody sit wherever and with whoever they want to, plus me and H2B are going to use it as some time to ourselves to chat about the day :) x

We're having just the 2 of us on the top table. Our flower girls and page boys on 2 small tables either side of us and then having the bridesmaids and parents in with the other guests. Would have caused too many arguments the other way.
