Hi everyone. I hope the wedding planning is going well. I can't believe how time flies and I'm passed the year mark already.

I'm issuing my save the dates just now and hit a bit of a stumbling block. I am part of a team at work and I'm very close to a couple of the team who I would like to invite to the full day wedding however I feel like I can't invite just a few during the day and the rest in the evening so have included the rest of my team during the day which numbers wise I can accommodate however they all have partners and unfortunately I can't squeeze them all in. Do I invite my team during the day and say plus ones only in the evening? We have put it out there and some people see no issue with that however my in-laws say I can't tell people their partners can only come at night and say to my team to only come at night with their partners. The only problem I have I with that is people I consider friends won't see me getting married.

    What would you do? X

I have the same problem as you. What I have done is spoken to my team at work explaining im working to restricted numbers and have asked them what they would prefer to do 1: come alone to the day and have their partner there in the evening or 2: just come to the evening with a partner.

Although it may not be the said way to do things it's what I found works for my situation x

From experience I'd suggest saying plus ones only in the evening, there is no issue with that and people should understand that plus ones are expensive and if the bride and groom don't know then why would you want to spend a small fortune on them for the whole day and have people you really do want there missing out.

if anyone has an issue with their plus one coming to the evning and not all day, then they would be getting uninvited. people know how much weddings cost these days!

if your guests are ok with it, and the inlaws are the ones causing the drama, just dont mention it again. its nothing to do with them and its not like they will notice who is and isnt there at certain parts of the day

I would not invite partners if you have not met them they will all have each other, doo is not like they will be alone, they could even organise to share a cab there.

I agree, if you've not met them why invite them? I invited my uni girls and they never came with their partners, one I could not accommodate them and two I had not met them. They were ok with it though as they had each other.

My fiancé works has invited about 10 people from work. Personally, if they are all colleagues i dont entirely think they need plus 1s for partners. You are friends with the team you've invited, not their partners. might sound unreasonable but we just invited our friends. We have one +1 for my college friend as if we just invited her she wouldn't know anybody else, bar one other girl who is coming with her husband (would be very much 3rd wheel)

We wrote names of only those invited on RSVPs to reduce the chance of someone sending it back with additional names of people we haven't invited.

Hi ladies. Thanks so much for your replies. I feel so much better now. I'll have a chat with the team and just explain that numbers are tight so their partners are more than welcome at night as numbers are too tight during the day.

Thanks again for all your responses x

I think it's reasonable if there is a group of them going to not invite their other halves to the day time :)

My team leader got married a few years ago and two members of the team went to the full day and the rest of us went in the evening. No one felt like they were thought of as any less we just new that she was close friends with those two specific people outside of work as well as inside.

We had to don our thick skin with our invites, and literally invite the people we knew, liked and bothered with. Some invites went out with plus ones, and some didn't. We had a number limit we had to stick to, and had to be quite tough with our guest list

I wouldn't invite their partners to the day.. To be honest I would only invite all partners if they were partners of family members. If you extend it to friends as well then you would end up with loads of people you don't even know. As said previously, they will all know each other so it's not like they would be on their own having to feel awkward x
