I know the registrars will confirm all of the details in our pre check 6 weeks before but that's ages away! And I'm trying to decide on wedding music etc, so just wondered when does the signing of the register happen? Is it after they've said you may now kiss the bride? Afterwards do you just get up from signing the register and walk out the ceremony room and greet people outside?just want my music to fit in with what's happening, as if it goes from signing the register music straight into recessional music they are quite different pieces I was thinking of having so might need to change it!

After you kiss the bride and everyone cheers etc you sign the register, then you pose and pretend to sign the register for photos (photos cannot be taken during the actual signing due to data protection) then after the photographer has taken the pics guests are invited to take photos, then pose with witnesses etc. Then everyone sits back down and the registrar announces with new Mr & Mrs and the music starts and happy couple waltz out with guests clapping etc. They then grab a few moments and a glass of champagne and the guests follow them out, then everyone gathers for confetti throwing.
There is a pause between music so I wouldn't worry about it being very different. Hope this helps x

Oh great thanks! That's good info, I just couldn't put the flow together in my mind to see how it would go! I've been to quite a few weddings both church and civil but I obvs wasn't paying that much attention at the time! lol so do you choose who else signs the register with you? I'd forgotten about that bit! I've been watching you tube videos of a string quartet playing at weddings, it's making me want one too much! They just get the feel of what's going on and play accordingly, when to get louder when to quiet down, when they need to fill a bit longer. Like one of the videos the kids were being trouble coming down the aisle and taking ages so they looped a bit til the more dramatic part of the music til the bride came down the aisle. Not sure how much they cost though...

when we sent the forms back to the registrar with vow details etc, we also had to write down names of 2 witnesses, and if applicable, the name of the person walking with you down the aisle.

You are very welcome, I go to many weddings so I'm very familiar with the flow of the day, prob won't stop me getting nervous though! Yes you choose two witnesses usually best man and maid of honour or parents. We get a Scottish piper with our venue, funnily enough my fmil asked us if we wanted a brass band!

Yeah you will need to choose 2 witnesses.. We are going with both our mums so they have the opportunity to feel more 'involved' in the day xx

We can't decide on witnesses, unsure if should just go with the mums as they've got quite a lot of involvement in the prep anyway but then who else? We could have my grannie but then unsure who would be the equivalent from h2b's side. Hmmm!
