Good afternoon ladies; I'm stuck on what to get my parents for the wedding. H2b's parents are buying the cake and suit so we were planning on getting mog a beautiful bunch of flowers and sfog something football related as he enjoys footy.
My parents however are giving us £2000 for our honeymoon along with buying little extras such as the flower girl dress e.t.c so we wanted to get them something biggish as a thank you but not sure what to go.
Of course we are really thankful for what his parents are giving us but we both feel like we should give something a bit bigger for my parents help. On the day we would probably give my parents a bunch of flowers like mog's and something my dad likes and then give them the other gift after the wedding as don't wish people to think we are giving my parents more then his if I'm making sense?
Just not sure what to get them? Maybe a city break or hotel break? Any ideas would be much appreciated. We are on a budget though (wouldn't have been able to book an amazing honeymoon without my parents gift) so would have to be something we could afford.

I would probably get both mums a nice bunch of flowers on the day plus whatever you give the dads, so it's even and looks fair on the day. I would then probably go for something like a night or two sleepover in a nice hotel from gr0up0n or livings0cial. I get emails from them every day and some can be £50 or so so good value x

You don't need to go all out.
My parents and FIL both gave us £10k for the wedding so £20 k of the wedding we didn't have to pay for. FIL got a good bottle of whisky, my mum got a bouquet of flowers, nothing really for my dad and a thank you card each. They did all get extra big Christmas and birthday presents from us but on the wedding day they didn't expect anything big, it's a small token of appreciation and them knowing how much we appreciated the contribution and having a fantastic day was enough for them.
If you want to and can afford it then by all means get a weekend break or similar for them but don't feel you have to. Maybe something more personal would be better like a family photo framed or write something meaningful and get it framed for them x

Parents understand that it's an expensive time, even though we had £20k combined given to us for the wedding we still had to pay more towards it and the honeymoon. We'd also just moved house. That's why throughout the year on their special day like birthdays etc we spoil them. We also make a point of having my parents and FIL with his gf round regularly for lunch/dinner and spoil them.

We didn't get his parents anything as his dad didn't contribute anything or even get us a small gift, and his mother, while she paid towards the cake, caused all kinds of issues and was only invited in the end to get her off our backs temporarily; we really didn't want her there (we also didn't want her to pay towards the cake but she handed us the cash and again, accepting was the less of two evils at the time).
Mine contributed a huge amount (about 2/3+ of the total cost inc the rings and honeymoon (we paid for those, OH's suit, part of my outfit, bits of stationery, and the bridal party gifts; my parents' contributtion was about £25k) so we bought my dad a nice bottle of wine, and my mum a silver, aquamarine and drusy pendant and white gold and aquamarine earrings, to go with her outfit, and tickets for the opera; I'll be going with them and treating them to a meal a day champagne.
We also bought my OH's brother a nice pair of cufflinks (he collects them) as he paid towards the cake.

Don't feel pressured to get extravagant presents for the one day, show them how much you appreciate them throughout the years after the wedding, I'm sure they'll love it and feel appreciated if you do little things over time.
Occasionally I buy my mum flowers just because rather than for anything in particular, they don't have to be expensive, just a few quid but she loves it. I always stock up their fridge with fresh food and get bread and eggs in etc when they come back from holiday so they don't have to go shopping for a couple of days, especially helpful if they've had a long journey. I always have a bunch of flowers waiting in a vase for my mum too when I do that.

I think we are planning on flower bouquets on the day, and then afterwards each set of parents (my parents are divorced) we will give them smaller versions of our wedding album. They won't be contributing too much as we are trying to keep costs sensible and will be paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves.
