I haven't had this but I know someone who has. It's most likely because your guests don't want to dress to close to your bridesmaids etc. you could always put something about your dress requirements on your invites

Ooh, Shall I tell you what I'm planning on doing??! So I saw an American blog about this couple who had made a Wedsite, and on one of the sidebars it had an option for attire..and the bride and Groom had done a little fashion show with their friends taking pictures of what to wear and what not to wear..it was a bit basic, but I thought what a GREAT idea! So I've already asked my MOH and my FH to help me do this and they were both up for! So we're going to make it really funny, going to put MOH in my friends old wedding dress, and me in a white outfit, to basically be like 'Do NOT wear white or anything mistaken for a weding dress' but make it light hearted if you know what I mean? And get FH to dress in silly things like trackies, Hawaiian shorts, chinos, speedos, etc! And me and MOH to dress up in various silly outfits, or laid back gym wear, or fancy dress, or my old prom dress.. And then all dress up in outfits that we already have, or borrow some off our friends to show what style is more fitting! We can also put little side notes, pointing out our Wedding colours, so people know to steer clear, if they're bothered about that, but then put a sweet little poem at the bottom saying something like
'We made this page for all of our guests
Who find dressing for weddings quite tricky,
You could wear a bin bag or your Sunday bests
Just leave the White Dress to Nikki'

I literally just made that up though. So I might think of a better one by then. Haha! Xx

Nope no one had asked. They know the colour scheme so I presume they just won't wear anything the same?

Lol, that's sweet. I had a couple of people check out with me if I was okay with what they were planning to wear. Thought it was really sweet and thoughtful.

yeah but they are being picky now so i feel like why even bother asking me, i want to turn up on my wedding day and have a few little suprise too so by them picking their own outfits i will get a suprise. i think one person is only doing it as she wanted to be bridesmaid and i said i wasnt having any. if i pick her out fit she can then say the bride picked it for me and feel more superior to others

I've had MIL2B asking as she doesn't want to clash with our teal colour scheme. I've just shown her the colour so she's got an idea. I'm really not worried to be honest

I'd just say as long as it's not the colour of the brides or bridesmaids dresses then to wear whatever... Surely they've been to a wedding before?!?x

Funnily enough we were talking about this the other day. A friend is getting married next year and has already asked another what they plan on wearing. Currently she is heavily pregnant, has no idea what will be happening next year, what she will look like and fit into. Mind you, she's fortunate, she'll be back in her normal clothes as soon as delivering.
