Definitely have a good old google / YouTube session with a bottle of wine. We listened to tonnes and tonnes of songs and then out of the blue h2b just came out with a song I had never heard of and I loved it!

We have lots of songs which are special to us, so we had to consider which ones we could actually dance to. Some of them are a bit funky and not danceable! We have gone for a Fleetwood mac song as we bought rumours not long after moving in together and listened to the album constantly for weeks.

We really struggled, and only picked our first dance with only days to go before the wedding. We chose Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Power of Love
We struggled too, then OH suggested 'It must be love' by Madness. I told him I thought it was cheesy and inappropriate, and basically made him go with Adele ('Feel my love') which I'd wanted for the ceremony but our string trio didn't do. Unbeknownst to him though I asked our band to learn both songs: so they started with Adele, and went into Madness. The look on his face was priceless and though I still think it's a bit corny, it was fab :-)
Only downside was a few people thought we were both in on it and doing it for effect lol
I'd honestly just choose something you like; who cares if it's a bit overdone? If you want something different though, and like acoustic guitar, you can do a LOT of songs on guitar that you wouldn't necessarily think of. We had an acoustic guitarist/singer for part of our reception and he's AMAZING! His repertoire is huge! Can pass on his details if you like?

Just listen to as many songs as you can, keep your ears open for songs on the radio etc. We think we are going with Stand By Me.. We would never have thought of that but it was played on the radio one day and we both turned around to each other and said 'this would make a good first dance song'. x

We're having Tom Odell - Grow old with me but the acoustic version. The lyrics are everything you need, have a listen :)
Also love Ed Sheeran - Thinking out loud.

Try searching Vitamin String Quartet (I think thats the right name). They do covers of loads of songs using violins etc. I've heard them do things like Kings of Leon but theres loads of different ones. Could be a way of having a well known song but with diferent twist on it.

I want Last Night on Earth or When It's Time by Green Day but OH has pretty much refused to have both (don't think I'll be getting Green Haze as my band, sob) so we're thinking possibly All I Ask Of You from Phantom of the Opera. Have you heard Before Your Love by Kelly Clarkson? It's beautiful
