My wedding isn't until July 2016 so plenty of time for me to think about this but would like other peoples opinions please.

Me and my fiance really like the song Kissing You by Des'ree some of you may know it from the film Romeo & Juliet.
This song has personal meaning to myself and my husband to be but I'm not sure its suitable for our first dance. Thinking maybe its too slow and upsetting for my guests?? Don't the guests usually join in to dance after 2 minutes or so?
What do you think to the song?

I love to sing that song! It is certainly powerful. If it has meaning to you and your future husband that's all that matters and you should go for it!

I love that song! You should dance to a song that has a meaning for both of you and if it is that song then go for it. Don't worry about the guests as I am sure they will dance anyway as they will be enjoying the day far too much to worry about the song :) x

If you love it and it means something to the two of you then go for it, it doesn't matter what your guests think. If you want them to get up and dance with you then maybe have a second 'first dance'? We are having a second song where our guests will be invited up to come and dance with us :)

We are still undecided. We are torn between 2 either Bryan Adams- everything I do or The Police Every breath you take. But have whatever you like it's your day x

If you want it have it, I have never been to a wedding where guests join in, they wait till the next song. Unless the Bride and groom want them to and then normally the BMS/ushers etc know and join and encourage others to join to. Personally I would not want anyone joining, its or moment, or first dance. But we are also having a choreographed one.

That's similar to us Whovianbride.. We are having a 'normal' first dance to start with which will be all romantic and just be use swaying lol, then we are doing a choreographed 'fun' piece after that which our guests will be asked to join in for near the end of the routine :)

awww thank you for all your comments :)

I'd love to do a choreographed dance as I used to be a dance performer but as my fiance says he has 2 left feet haha wouldnt be fair on him.
The idea of a second song does sound good because i like the idea of our first dance just being us in the moment. I'd need the second song to liven things up haha
thank you for all your comments. its really helped :) x

We really struggled to find a song. We got married a few weeks go, and we didn't want all of the obvious stuff many people go for. We decided on Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Power of Love. It was brilliant.

Chezzy you should ask him if he would be willing to do something like that if it's something you'd love to do! It doesn't have to be anything complicated and you can teach him yourself so he wouldn't need to feel self conscious taking a proper class in front of people?

My h2b has never danced in his life but he's really up for it and really excited for me to start teaching him! I feel so honoured that he's willing to do that for me because it would mean the absolute world to me to dance with him 'properly'! x

Yeah you don't have to make it complicated, out first dance is to how do you like your eggs in the morning, my oh is not the best mover, but we have agrees still to practice and learn it, and with that style of music is mainly pairs of quite simple moves
