Hi we are getting married august 2016 and was wondering if we should pay a deposit? We booked the date with the vicar in January but she never said if we needed to and it doesn't say anything in the booklet she gave us either. Thanks

We had to pay a £44 deposit for our church (CofE)

Did you. The vicar we saw never mentioned it. It's only as I've seen others write on here that they've paid a deposit

I had to pay a deposit for ours, we booked for 2015... booked the Church back in Feb or March. It might be worth contacting her just to be on the safe side

I've emailed the church as not got a direct email address for her. Hopefully they get back soon. When did you pay the deposit? We had to fill in a big form and take driving licence with us for her to take a copy. This was January and she didn't mention any sort of deposit
I think it varies between churches. We didn't have to pay a deposit, but others have said they did. I'm sure they would have told you if they want one though?

If they've got the date in the church diary then it should be confirmed. However it's probably best to double check.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

We paid our deposit when we booked and filled the forms in, he said we didn't have to pay it there and then but could come over the next week or so, but we thought it best to just get it paid.
Like others have said, it varies from Church to Church and maybe you don't have to pay one, but at least if you double check then your mind will be put at rest

If they got you to fill in the paperwork then I would class that as officially booked, if they wanted a deposit they would have asked. We ideally wanted to pay the church in full but they refused & said to pay next year.

Just had an email back from our vicar and she has said we don't need to pay a thing until a few days before the wedding x
