I just wanted to get a rough idea on how much I should be spending on a car to take me and h2b to our reception venue. Neither of us are hugely bothered about a big, posh car, so it's not top of our priorities, but we'd still like to go in style. I have contacted a few local wedding car specialists and have received quotes ranging from £275-£540 for one half an hour journey. Our budget isn't extremely tight, and if we found something we really loved we could stretch to it, but I don't want to pay 500 odd pounds for a car that neither of us really care about. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how we could do it? Or how much is the normal amount to spend? I want to be realistic about it. Thanks! :)

We have paid 425 for a car and it will take mum and bridesmaids to church then come back for me and my dad. It will then take my h2b and me to the venue. Do you have any family or friends with a nice car you could use and buy some ribbon to attach to it? xx

We have paid £275 for our car - its a rolls royce but not overly fancy. I wasnt bothered about the car. I agree with Katie on a friends car. Ours is taking my mum and bridesmaids 5 mins to church, then coming back for me and dad, then taking me and h2b on a little drive around before on to the venue and has champagne included and co-ordinated flowers and ribbons.

We too are not overly bothered about having a posh car, just something vintage. Didn't want to spend a lot so h2b friend at work is driving me in his immaculate vw beetle which he inherited from his grandad for £50 and a drink! X

Have you tried taxi companies? We have hired a Mercedes E class from a taxi place and they put all of the bows on it too. They are picking up the best man and groom, then the bridesmaids and then me and my dad and waiting at the church to then take my mum and dad to the reception (h2b and I are going in a horse and carriage) and for all of that it cost £200!
