I got engaged to my best friend on the 16th December and all I've thought about since is planning our wedding. I have so many ideas but overall we our almost there on booking the venue and starting to pay for things.
when do you start shopping for your wedding dress? I know its a silly question but I've got a lot of weight to lose first and I'm worried if i go now at the size i am, i wont like the style of dress once I've lost the weight. We are hopefully getting married on the 18th july 2015 but how late can you leave getting your dress?
I've also hit another problem with the Top table. My mum and dad split up when i was 2 and though they both remarried my mum is now single but my dad has been with my step mum for 23years. Id love my step mum to be seated next to my dad on the top table but my mum kicked off and said she was the mother of the bride not her! I just don't understand her attitude! My mum will also be at the top table so i don't see why she would be behaving like this. My htb has suggested only having us, flower girl, best man, page boy and the bridesmaids on the top table. Has anyone ever done this to save arguments. I know my htb parents and dad would be fine with this but I'm more than certain my mum wont be.
my dads even suggested to go get married alone so he doesn't need to see my mum, things are that bad. I need help ladies! Its beginning to get me down.

Hey! Welcome :). The dress need to be brought about 6 months in advance, so there is enough time for it to be made and enough time for all the fittings. As for the top table, I would do you htb suggestion, it sounds reasonable to me. Just put you mum and dad the 2 tables nearest you I have herds of that done before and it worked :). Xx

Welcome! You could always just have you and the H2B on the top table? Ive known of a few couples that have done that. They have had the family on tables close to the top table. They said it worked well for them

I bought my dress April 2013 for our September 2014 wedding but my weight hasn't really fluctuated that much over that time, it all depends where u get your dress from and how much weight you want to lose, if you buy a sample dress then that will be your dress anyway so alterations would be made on that dress so timescale wouldn't really matter. However if you find a dress that you're going to need to order then generally it is around the timeframe of 6-9 months for ordering, delivering, alterations etc xx

For the parents situation, that's similar to my family except my dads single and my mum is in a long term relationship for about 6-7 years now, I will be doing the same as what my sister did a few wks back which is put my dad next to me, then put my mum, and then her partner on the end on the top table, as it's unfair to leave him out and tbh my dad was the one that suggested it so maybe put it to your mum early on so she can get used to it x

I'm starting dress shopping this month and get married next July .
Parents wise it sounded similar to what I was expecting but sadly before I was engaged my mum passed away but yet I still think should I have step mum in my mums seat . In one venue at a wedding there was a horse shoe shaped table where I have seen people sit themselves (h2b and you) the MOH and best man and maybe flower girls or bridesmaids or page boys then there was 2 tables directly in front but less seats and that one table had father and step mum and the other had mother and partner and also grandparents then they had the other tables as normal .It did reduce the risk of things kicking off more than being sat next to each other .
Good luck x
Somehow always connected , finally became friends .
Friends became soul mates :)

I'm starting this month also for wedding next August. As for top table I think we are going to go with the new option of just the two of us, much less complicated this way.
