How long do you think we need to allow for the wedding breakfast?

We have 63 guests and 7 tables, and are having 3 courses, no coffee. We're not having a receiving line and OH and I will just enter with our guests, not separately. We're having 3 speeches and a poem which shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes (poem will be about 2 mins, OH's and best man's speeches maybe 2-3 mins, my dad's will probably be about 5-6 mins) and we plan on having them between the main course and dessert.

I've emailed the venue but she won't get back to me until tomorrow and we were hoping to come up with some rough timings tonight, so any advice would be appreciated!

In my experience with sit down 3-course meals at weddings about roughly 2 - 2.5hrs but those were with receiving lines and coffee.

Thanks :-) Do you reckon we could do it in 2 hours?

I've just looked at the timings and we are SO tight, and I don't want things to feel rushed, or to overrun, particularly when it gets to the evening as we have a band and then a DJ.

When we first booked we were pretty relaxed as there was no cut-off time for the music; so it didn't matter too much when the evening got under way as we could carry on until 3am if we wanted. Unfortunately that has now changed to 1am so things are that much tighter, and are going to have to go smoothly :-s

    Stress!

Never underestimate the length of speeches. The last two wedding I've been to have lasted at least 30 minutes. The last one I went to, we were sat down for four very long hours!! X

Laura: they've been told they're on a very strict time limit lol. If it starts running massively over, I will actually say something, as I think long speeches are SOOO boring! I'm confident they won't though: MOH's is a poem which will take 1-2 minutes (I've heard the one she did for another wedding and it was short and sweet), and my OH and his best man are both very nervous and literally plan to just thank the necessary people etc. My dad is the only potentially dodgy one as he likes to, how shall I put this, 'digress'; and I will be making my mum hear it beforehand and timing it lol. I think 15, maybe 20 mins, should be very comfortable.

Also, we're not giving out gifts during the speeches, and we're not cutting the cake then either; gifts are being done in private, and the cake will be cut just before the first dance at about 7.45pm :-)

You could do it no problem as long as speeches are reigned in.

If they know then you'll do it in the 2 hours. The brides dad at both really rambled on! Lol. My poor dada has a stutter so his could take a while and my h2b will do a quick thanks lol. We're also not doing gifts, they'll be done on the morning before the wedding. Were also not having the traditional wedding breakfast so ours don't matter too much.

I think you'll manage with the time :) xx

We've just had our final meeting and ours is the same as yours - no line - 3 speeches at a few mins each - 3 course meal - we got it down from 3.30 till 6, so 2 n half hours, but i think thats going to be easily enough x
