I know this might sound negative but I'm always so unlucky.. guaranteed to be a thunder storm the day I get married!
Whats everyone's recommended month or special week of the year that's lucky?!
CommentAuthorShowgirl
Its hard to say with the British weather, probably best to plan for a rainy day just in case though. Our date is our 10th anniversary and wouldn't have considered having the wedding on any other date.

Lol I'm biased MAY!!! Lol
Lets be honest, we're in the UK! Never guaranteed a good day really xxx
My h2b chose our date. We both decided 2016 to give us time to save and our friends are getting married next year in Majorca so we need to save for that too. H2b birthday on 10th august so asked if we could have it on 6th august so he can be a married man on his birthday :-)

What about photos with thunder storm in the background.. how do we work around that lol?

Personally I think a thunderstorm could look amazing - so dramatic (I'd be insisting the photographer puts a blue grad filter over the lens so the grey looks even more dramatic set against a white dress. I especially love pics where there's just the bride and groom at night, backlit, and pouring with rain - you can only see the rain drops that are caught in the light and makes for a wonderful shot... oh now I'm actually hoping for a thunderstorm on our day (October tends to be either very sunny or very rainy, not very stormy though). With the right photographer it doesn't matter what the weather does, they'll still know how to make sure your pics look amazing. If you're worried you can always scope out some nice spots indoors that would make a good alternative to the outdoor shots (which your photographer will do anyway, but will give you peace of mind) or maybe grab a brolly to compliment your dress.

if youve got a good photographer a thunderstorm going on around you would look amazing lol!

A summer wedding would be everyones popular choice of course, but as we live in the UK we barely even get a summer regardless of the month ha! My stepsister got married 26th August 2011, and it rained! My OH's brother is getting married 15th June this year so we are yet to see how that turns out.
We have chosen to get married next Easter in April. OH works in a school it would have to be school holidays, and frankly anything kind of holiday around summer just gets more expensive (and I couldn't wait that long!)
In our experience with our venue, we found that by having a wedding out of the popular wedding season (summer) would could get a bigger room for our wedding breakfast because it was a quiet period. They did give us the option of upgrading our package but would have had to pay for 20 extra adults at £45pp. We went home and worked it out to being over an extra thousand so said we would just have the smaller room we were planning on anyway, then they turned round and said we could have the biger room for no extra cost anyway! So it worked out in our favour :)
Also, with summer being prime wedding season everyone tries to book in sooner, so you might have trouble picking suppliers if they are busy and don't have your date free, we've been lucky and managed to get our date no problem.
Although after all that, I will of course will be expecting rain!

We chose September as it's normally good weather a couple of weeks after the schools start again, but tbh i'm not banking on it. I don't think it matters what day, week, month you pick we live in England lol

In this country you can't guarantee the weather I'm afraid. Maybe go for spring or autumn then dry hot weather isn't expected then you won't be disappointed?
We had a May wedding and it was cold and rained for some of the day, luckily not when we needed it to be dry. My sister got married in April and had hot dry weather. I've been to August weddings and it's tipped it down all day.

Don't think you can guarantee the weather anytime of the year August last year we had so much rain there was flooding where I live, the sea started coming over the wall, the reservoirs burst their banks and anyone that lived at the bottom of hills was flooded and we don't live in a flood area either
We have however booked a July wedding as always wanted a summer wedding and we booked in January for July 2015 and had to settle for out second choice date as our first choice had gone already

Weddings we've been too, we've noticed soooooo many ppl be disappointed when they've got rubbish weather in June,July August, when they EXPECT good but it's Britain! We've actually noticed the weather better in may or September, so we chose September as when we got engaged it gave us longer to save for it ... Plus if it rains,it rains...we don't care, well still have a blast!x

Best thing is to prepare for an indoor wet and cold weather wedding then you have everything covered, then if you have lovely weather it's a bonus and you can enjoy the outdoors. Whilst it rained on our wedding day, by some miracle, the time we needed to be outside, a couple of hours for the photos it was dry and my dress didn't get dirty at all (massive surprise).
I have been to an August wedding where it totally chucked it down heavy all day and felt so sorry for the bride and groom.

We had our uk wedding at the beginning go june ....planned for lots of outside things ,garden games etc ....but it was the only day that it rained!!!!!!!!!
We're getting married at the end of April next year, so it could go either way! Thankfully we're having a very indoor wedding :o) My Sister got married at the end of May 2011. It rained in the morning but it was glorious by the time the ceremony started. My Stepsister's civil partnership ceremony was mid April last year. It absolutely bucketed down all day so all their photos were taken indoors in cramped rooms :o( It was such a shame for them :o(

Weather - the one thing you cannot predict for a wedding. We had both agreed to getting married in May, as that's the month we got engaged and tends to be OK weatherwise, but who knows on the day. What made us feel good though was looking at the venues previous wedding pics as some where done on rainy days and they still looked great. Made us think if it does rain it'll still be nice.

I'm getting married this July. It always seems to be the best month weather wise and it's h2b's birthday month. Sods law says it'll now rain for us! Lol x

We're getting married beginning of October on a date that means a lot to us. AS for weather, am mentally preparing myself for it to be freezing cold and bucketing down so anything else is a bonus!! Photos would look amazing in rain and storms though x

We went for summer as it least you're not going to get snow/it won't be freezing (even if it's raining/windy/cold lol), and it was better for us on a practical level as my mum works at a school, and my chief bridesmaid is a teacher. I'd also just always figured I'd get married in July or August for some reason.
But, we're not banking on good weather, and pretty much our entire day will take place inside. We went for a venue with a stunning interior over one with grounds etc simply because I didn't want to be stressing about the weather; some we looked at had lovely grounds, but the interiors were just OK, nothing amazing, and I kept thinking 'What if it's chucking it down and we can't have photos taken outside? We're going to have a load of 'just OK' photos'.
