    Heylo All!

    Hows everyone doing?

Im getting so so so excited as really not long until our big day! Eeeeeeeeeeeek!

Me and my h2b decided a while ago to not try for a baby until after we're married.... now its only 20 odd days away im wondering a few things....

Is anyone else thinking of trying for a baby straight away?
Do I stop taking my pill in advance to help things along?

Its obv a massive decision and one that we know we are ready for.... however.... i am due "on" 2 days before my wedding.... if i stop taking my pill now I know I will be "on" for our wedding but if i delay being "on" then i will be "on" during my honeymoon. I'm hoping and praying that I may be "on" early this month so i can avoid the wedding and honeymoon but who knows. I'm not really sure how to do this. my doc prescribed me utolvalin which delays being "on" and its not technically a contraceptive so i cud just take this throughout honeymoon.... but im just not sure what to do to be honest!

    Anyone else got similar problems??

    xx

    Happily Married! :) xxx

Tbh I would enjoy your wedding and honeymoon and take baby making as the next step when you get back .... It will take a while for you body to kick out the pill you have been taking ..... Don't put any pressure on yourself , you will conceive when you body decides it is the right time .

I'm getting married in October but had my implant removed in February so that my body could get back into its natural state and we could start TTC shortly after the wedding. looking at dates my period should end the day before my wedding (fingers crossed) and the honeymoon is a month later which again I should be 'clear' for, if we don't conceive before that of course.
Personally, in your situation I think I'd stop taking the pill and use the utovalin.
I'm qualified in pre- and post-natal nutrition and I have also spoken with my doctors about pregnancy and although ideally I need to start preparing about 3 months before, I'd recommend you start taking your supplements straight away since your wedding is so close. You'll need folic acid and vitamin D as well as a healthy balanced diet. If you're deficient in any other vitamins or minerals its best to up your intake now so that theres a good store within your body for baby to draw on.
If you have any questions about what you can and can't eat just let me know and I'll do my best to advise.
Best of luck, let us all know how you get on.

I am having a similar dilemma, im getting married in October also and we want to try for a family howver i dont want to risk being 'on' for either my wedding or honeymoon so i will probably if necessary take two packs back to back to get me past this and then stop taking the pill and let things happen when they happen.

I cant think how frustrating it would be in a wedding dress to keep having to pop off during the day (im quite heavy) or even worse on my relaving honeymoon on the beach thinking i need ot make sure i can be near a WC and not enjoy the delights.

I take vitimins now and have done for some time, eat well and stopped smoking two years ago, my doctor knows my intentions and he thinks that I am doing what I can if I want to make sure im not 'on' for either of these events.

It takes approx a month for hormones from the pill to come out of your system, so I agree if you're wanting to start straight away then nows probably the right time to stop and honestly the period u have on the pill is a false period anyway as you don't release any eggs, so you'll probably find if u stop taking the pill tomorrow, you'll have a period then x

And start taking folic acid too as that helps prepare your body for pregnancy x

I didnt even think of vitamins :S clearly i have not done my research!

What kind of things should I be eating/taking for vitamin D and folic acid?

I did think it would take a while for my body to get back to normal but i didnt want to risk being "on" for wedding hence why im still on my pill. Going to stop taking them both the week before my wedding in the hopes that ill come on, then its done and dusted and out of way before wedding/honeymoon. Then Ill just take utovalin with me on my honeymoon just incase.

Then i guess itll just happen when it happens!

The best source of vitamin D is sunshine! Unfortunately its not guaranteed in this country so a supplement is the way forward. Green leafy veg is a good source of folate however dietary sources aren't sufficient for a developing baby so again you'll need a supplement. Prenatal vitamins should provide you with all the vitamins you'll need.
Try to eat fish twice a week (avoiding shark, marlin and swordfish) and tuna should be limited to no more than 4 cans per week. Sushi from a supermarket is fine as it has been frozen before sale, however raw sushi should be avoided, as should raw eggs. Vitamin A should be limited to less than 10000IU a day so no liver products such as pate should be consumed at all. Consuming Vitaimm A from sources such as sweet potato and carrots along with your prenatal vitamin should be fine.
90% of couples conceive within 12 months of trying and 95% conceive within 2 years so don't get disheartened if it doesn't happen right away - it'll happen when it happens is definitely the right attitude to have.

I'm planning on doing the same thing, I'm planning on coming off my injection 6 months before as that's how long it took to get my system back in whack last time, but I found the other pill does not seem to take as long in general when i came off that i accidentaly got pregnant after coming off it a week, so now we also use other protection so would not be to worried about becoming pregnant before.
I would ideally like to get get pregnant within 2/3 months of the wedding so we can have a May/June baby.

We're thinking of trying to conceive straight away as well and I've had similar thoughts to you (although more recently getting crazy and thinking maybe before.... I'll be honest after a pregnancy ''scare'' when my fiance pointed out quite a few reasons why it wouldn't be a bad thing)

Although it's hard, I would agree with the above advice and say just enjoy your wedding and honeymoon as you don't want to be feeling rubbish on your big day, I recently came of the pill as it was sending me crazy and my first proper period after coming off it was awful
