We are having our ceremony at 12.30, we then go straight onto the reception venue (which is half an hour away from the Church)

Someone has told me they're going to change during the day (nothing to do with the timings of the ceremony or anything as they told me this before we booked anything)

It's something that has annoyed me a little as I don't see the point, personally I would not change at someone elses wedding, I don't see the point. My mum thinks its funny as well.

Don't get me wrong, it's not something I'm going to make a big deal about, I just wanted to know what your thoughts on this were? Does your opinion change depending on who it is, such as a normal guest, Mother of the bride or groom ect.?

I was a bridesmaid for my Mum 10 years ago and she bought me an outfit to change into for the evening. The plan was for her and my aunt to also change but everyone was so busy chatting to guests that I ended up being the only one who changed. Generally though i wouldn't change at a wedding unless I was specifically asked to. Like you I don't see the point but each to their on I guess - if they're just a guest and not part of the bridal party then I doubt anyone will notice.

The only person who will probably get changed at mine is my 11 year old junior bridesmaid she hates wearing dresses and especially hates pink and her outfit is both of those :-)
I think its a bit strange for a non bridal party guest to change -did they say why?

some of our guests got changed but into something a more comfortable on a night. mainly our groomsmen and best men they got changed in to there own suits as they were lighter than the day outfits. I got changed at my SIL wedding from a full on frock to a nice top and trousers with some sandals as it was a bit warm in the dresses. I didn't have to just wanted to be more comfortable. its a long day and sometimes you want to freshen up

My Nephew is getting married in April and I'm going to change in the evening as I've bought a dress and hate wearing them so going to change to trousers and a top my sister won't let me wear jeans lol

I Have known of guests changing for the evening doo, to freashen up and be more comfortable, don't see any problem with it. I would not be too happy if my bms or groomsmen changed as they are supposed to be representing us and be visable for other guests to ask for help etc with anything. Aswell as the fact that I've picked sn paid for them so I want them to make the most out of them.

Met June 2009 on my Birthday,Met again July 2009 and got
together, May 2010 Moved in,Jan 2011 got pregnant,
August 2011 Got our own place, 2011 Had our Baby Girl,
Dec 2011 Got engaged, July 2015 Getting married! Yay!

Lots of people get changed for the evening do into something more comfortable than the formal outfits they have had on in the day, especially in the summer as these can be too heavy and hot to allow people to dance in them etc. some brides also change their dresses in the evening into something lighter which lets them move more. I really don't see the problem with it, all the formal bits and photographs are done and out of the way by then so it isn't going to make any difference to you whether they get changed or not xxx

At my sister's wedding - all of us siblings changed (apart from the bride). Mainly because she was really strict on what we could and couldn't wear during the ceremony and photos! We changed to a looser dress after eating (it was a 12 meal Chinese banquet) so we could dance in looser clothing and not be too self-conscious in super tight dresses. We cleared both dresses with her and she didn't mind that we changed.

We had a few change at our wedding, and I have changed at weddings before, particularly if the wedding ceromony and breakfast is quite formal or it's a church ceremony.

My bridesmaids changed for the night do at about 9pm (so the guests saw them in the dresses first) into more 'party-ish' gear...personally, I'd rather them enjoy themselves and be up on the dancefloor!
