    Hi all.

    Need some advice.
I was laid off yesterday. Got our wedding in 9 month! We still have £4300 to pay for everything. We've worked our money out and we'll have about £200 spare each month. So it's impossible to have that money together in 9 month. Plus with 2 kids something always comes up. I'm gutted. But to be honest a bit relieved. It was starting to turn into a day for everyone else and it caused us a lot of stress. Now the big question is do we just have a quiet ceremony at the registry office and a meal and a few drinks afterwards with close family an friends or do we put if back a year as we've paid about £1500 off already. The big day doesn't mean much to me as long as I'm married to the love of my life and finally have the same surname as my 2 little girls.

Oh no. I am so sorry! That is terrible.
Do you think you can get a new job soonish?
I agree. With kids something always comes up. It would be such a shame to loose the 1500GBP, but if you're saying a big wedding doesn't mean much to you, you could have a small intimate do and then have a bigger celebration next year or in a couple of years when things look up again.

Maybe even at the same venue, so you don't loose the 1500GBP.

Are there things not paid for yet that you can do without, given that you're not so worried about the big do? Is it possible to keep the date and venue to avoid losing money but turn it into something more intimate?

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Sit and write a list of what you've booked and still need then think what you can do without n cut back on numbers, see how much that will cost you and then see of you need to rearrange your date especially if the whole big day thingy doesn't bother you x

I agree with the other ladies, sit down and see what you really need and what you don't need. Who could you possibly save money and where etc. x

Could you move to a Friday or midweek so just transfer what you've paid? If what's important is being a mrs then far better not to stress just go ahead and do it; keep in simple, cheap and about those who matter xx

Thanks so much for everyone's advice. We're going to sit down tonight and see what we can cut back on and go over to the venue on Saturday and see what we could do there. I don't mind skipping the breakfast and jut having a night time do straight from church. Need to also get in touch with the church and see when is the latest we could get married. Thinking about registry office too as its a bit cheaper. As long as we have our closest family an friends with us we don't mind where it is.

I agree on small and intimate, would be great if you could arrange it at the same place as well so you don't lose the money
