My fiancé is thinking top hat, he can't decide whether to have one just for him, which I think is what he really wants or get one for all the grooms party.
Everyone seems to think it should be one for everyone, but I don't know if that's just because they want a top hat themselves.
Would you think it was weird at a wedding if only the groom had a top hat?

I been told not get them. As they spend more time carrying them round then on there head lol but it dose look gd in photos! My h2b wants a pirate hat... god no y lol x

That's partly why my h2b only wants him to have one I think, plus he's been warned they're easily damaged and he'll get charged for them. Also it will make him stand out as the groom.

I definitely agree with the idea of the groom standing out. I think if your OH wants just him to have a top hat then there's nothing wierd about it. I would also disagree with the groom having a pirate hat unless the wedding is pirate themed.

I also agree with standing out. It just depends whether you all think the price is worth it for the amount of time that he'll wear it for. x
our guys are getting them, my OH is well know for always wearing a hat so would be strange If he did not, and would look weird I think with groomsmen with out, but groomsmen will have grey to match there suits and OH will have black to watch his.

i personally don't like top hats i think they're too much but if OH was to have one i would do what lana said and have the grooms men in grey ones xx

Lana - I expected you to say your OH would be continuing the Dr Who theme by wearing a fez... almost disappointed.

I don't think he minds that he won't be wearing it most of the day, I am yet to inform him that he can't wear it in the Church (although I'd like to think he'll already know) as we're hiring its not going to cost that much just for one (price does go up if we hire 4 more) and much more of a chance of them getting damaged and us having to pay for them if we hire them all as well.

personally i think it might look silly if he was the only one in a hat. we are having tails but no hats even though best man keeps begging me to have them. im not too sure what you can do to make H2B to stand out as mine will be in his uniform. but ive seen a lot of grooms go for a different colour waistcoat and cravatte - something like having the others in colour and him in ivory? x
CommentAuthorBeckyU98
or if he really wants to stand out then put him in a different colour suit x
